❤️ Happy Mother’s Day!
We want to share this prayer and express that in all ways of motherhood, we are grateful for our mothers. 🫶

Gracious and loving God, today we give special attention to the art of mothering. Many of us understand different contexts of motherhood, and yet every context is a special calling and privilege.
We give you thanks for the days of wiping noses and changing diapers. We give you thanks for play time and bedtime stories. We give you thanks for adolescent imaginations, growth in independence, and young adult explorations. We give you thanks for the joy of watching as our children become parents themselves.
None of us arrived here without receiving mothering from others. Whether it was a grandmother, aunt, sister, adoptive, biological or spiritual mother, we recognize their efforts to care for and raise us into the people we are today. We offer gratitude for the gift of their lives.
For some of us, Mother’s Day holds both joy and grief as we miss the women who have influenced us so deeply. We ask that your Spirit allow that grief to overflow into love that we might share with others. Some of us are grieving children who were lost too soon; help us to cherish precious memories and remember those days as a gift. Some may hope for the opportunity to mother, yet have not had children brought into their lives. Walk with them and comfort them in their longing.
We pray too for all those children in our world who are in need of mothering. Inspire, guide, and move us to offer our time and talents to care for the children of our world, that every person might grow to know they are worthy of love and belonging.
In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
