Hospitality is one of the simplest ways WE reflect God’s love. A warm greeting or heartfelt invitation can make a lasting difference. Join us after worship as WE celebrate Pentecost—and don’t forget to wear red!

Gratitude for Growth
Growth often begins just outside our comfort zones. WE give thanks for the courage to try something new—whether it’s a group, a ministry, or a simple conversation—and for the connections that grow from it.

Gratitude for Mothers and Those Who Mother
Mother’s Day can be a joyful celebration for some and a tender reminder of loss for others. The WE Committee invites us to hold all of this with gratitude—giving thanks for mothers, grandmothers, and all who have mothered, nurtured, guided, and loved
in countless ways.

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NRSVUE)

Today is the National Day of Prayer, in which we join with thousands of other congregations and organizations in praying for our country. Our nation has been fractured by division and distrust, and many of our neighbors – many of us – are suffering, unsure what the future holds. We need healing. We need reconciliation. We need justice. And we need peace.

Our God is the source of all of these things, and it is not only appropriate but important that we lift up our prayers for our country. Nothing is impossible for our God of compassion and mercy.

So, please join me in prayer today, asking God to continue to bless this nation.

Loving and merciful God, we lift up our prayers to you today with trust and hope. We thank you for our country and the ideals and freedoms for which it stands. In our brokenness, we ask for your healing. In our division, we ask for your reconciliation. Where injustice exists, we ask for your justice to prevail. Where violence holds sway, we ask for your peace.

Bless our leaders and grant them the wisdom to act with mercy and compassion, and inspire them to work for justice, dismantling systems and opposing forces that harm or oppress your children.

Empower your church to share your radical and inclusive love, walking in solidarity with those who are suffering or marginalized, spreading the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and promoting responsible stewardship of your good Creation.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Gratitude for Community
As the days grow longer, WE’re reminded of the gift of community and connection. The WE Committee is grateful for each person who helps make St. Barnabas such a welcoming place. This weekend, let others know WE’re an approved parking lot for the Cottonwood Art Festival—and invite them to join us for our 10 a.m. service before they go. Also, stay after worship as we celebrate our graduating senior, Rory Gorman!
