Somewhere along the way the church got the idea that grieving deeply means you're not trusting God enough. So people stuff it down, put on their Sunday face, and tell themselves that crying too long means they don't really believe in heaven. That is not biblical and it is not true.

Jesus stood at the tomb of Lazarus knowing full well He was about to raise him from the dead, and He still wept. David wrote entire psalms soaked in grief and God called him a man after His own heart. Grief is not the opposite of faith. It is the evidence that you loved something deeply, and God honors that.

Give yourself permission to grieve fully without guilt. You can believe in the resurrection and still miss the person. You can trust God's plan and still feel the weight of the loss. He is close to the brokenhearted, not distant from them, and He can handle every tear you have left.
