Carol Sherley Kuhrt

Age 99, of Rice Lake, WI, died Tuesday, June 23, 2026 in Rice Lake surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 7, 1926 in Quinnesec, Michigan to Carl and Signe (Fond ) Gundersen. Carol graduated from Hawkins High School in Hawkins, WI. She was married to Donald Kuhrt on March 12, 1955 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake. Carol worked for Mastercraft Industries prior to her and Don owning and operating Kuhrt Lumber in Rice Lake for over 30 years.

She was a friend to many and of all ages. Carol lived for her boys and all of her grandchildren and would do anything for each and everyone of them. Her faith was a very important part of her life. Carol was a life member of Maranatha Evangelical Free Church in Rice Lake.

She loved riding motorcycles, keeping up with the news, woodworking, watching the Green Bay Packers, and feeding the birds.

Carol was easy to love, a good role model, generous, humble, strong willed, tough, selfless, kind, and very loving.

She is survived by 2 sons, Mark (Sonja) Kuhrt and Kevin (Dawn) Kuhrt; 6 grandchildren, Tyson Kuhrt, Brennan (Breanne) Kuhrt, Shawna Kuhrt, Kayla (Ouray) Chastain, Austin Kuhrt (Aurora Thompson) and Ryan Kuhrt (Kylah Gosda); 10 great grandchildren, Elijah, Asher, Kaden, Lailah, Kysen, Hayden, Titus, Onyx, Forest, Braxton; a sister-in-law, Norma Gundersen; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kuhrt; her parents, Carl and Signe Gundersen; siblings, Leonard (Arlyn) Gundersen, Marilyn (Clarence) Lechleitner, and Thomas (Beverly) Gundersen.

Funeral Services will be held at 3PM Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Maranatha Evangelical Free Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Paul Green and Rev. Alan Klasi officiating, with interment in the Orchard Beach Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, Wisconsin is assisting and serving the family with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Maranatha Evangelical Free Church Missionary Programs and/or ClaraVita Medical (formerly the Pregnancy Help Center of Rice Lake)
