Sunday, August 7!
Join us for guest speaker Dr. Carlos Eire and music from Roberto Juan Rodriguez with the Cuban Jewish All Stars!

In 1962, at the age of 11, Carlos Eire was one of 14,000
unaccompanied children airlifted out of Cuba by Operation
Pedro Pan to the United States. His life until then is the subject
of the 2003 National Book Award winner Waiting For Snow In
Havana: Confessions Of A Cuban Boy -- a wry, heartbreaking,
beautiful memoir of growing up in a privileged Havana
household -- and of being exiled from his own childhood by the
Cuban revolution.
Dr. Eire earned his PhD at Yale University in 1979 and is now
the T. Lawrason Riggs Professor of History and Religious
Studies at Yale.

Born in East Havana Cuba, and raised in Miami, percussionist and
composer Roberto Rodriguez brings groundbreaking new music
through his cross-cultural roots. Drawing upon his influences across the board of traditional Cuban music roots to contemporary genres of world music and Sephardic music, pop, jazz and improvisation,
electronic, classical, he is one of the most versed performers and
intriguing composers today. He will be performing with the Cuban Jewish All Stars.
