Psalm 69:7-18

7 It is for your sake that I have borne reproach,
that shame has covered my face.
‍8 I have become a stranger to my kindred,
an alien to my mother’s children.
‍9 It is zeal for your house that has consumed me;
the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.
‍10 When I humbled my soul with fasting,
they insulted me for doing so.
‍11 When I made sackcloth my clothing,
I became a byword to them.
‍12 I am the subject of gossip for those who sit in the gate,
and the drunkards make songs about me.
‍13 But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord.
At an acceptable time, O God,
in the abundance of your steadfast love, answer me.
With your faithful help 14 rescue me
from sinking in the mire;
let me be delivered from my enemies
and from the deep waters.

Proverbs 4:10-27

10 Hear, my child, and accept my words,
that the years of your life may be many.
‍11 I have taught you the way of wisdom;

‍13 Keep hold of instruction; do not let go;
guard her, for she is your life.

2 Thessalonians 2:13— 17

2:13 But we must always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the first fruits for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14 For this purpose he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by our letter.

‍16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and through grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope, 17 comfort your hearts and strengthen them in every good work and word.

Psalm 105:1-11, 37-45

‍1 O give thanks to the Lord; call on his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples.
‍2 Sing to him, sing praises to him;
tell of all his wonderful works.

let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
‍4 Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually.
‍5 Remember the wonderful works he has done,
his miracles and the judgments he has uttered,
‍6 O offspring of his servant Abraham,
children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
‍7 He is the Lord our God;
his judgments are in all the earth.
‍8 He is mindful of his covenant forever,
of the word that he commanded for a thousand generations,
‍9 the covenant that he made with Abraham,
his sworn promise to Isaac,
‍10 which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute,
to Israel as an everlasting covenant,
‍11 saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan
as your portion for an inheritance.”

‍37 Then he brought Israel out with silver and gold,
and there was no one among their tribes who stumbled.
‍38 Egypt was glad when they departed,
for dread of them had fallen upon it.
‍39 He spread a cloud for a covering
and fire to give light by night.
‍40 They asked, and he brought quails
and gave them food from heaven in abundance.
‍41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out;
it flowed through the desert like a river.
‍42 For he remembered his holy promise
and Abraham, his servant.
‍43 So he brought his people out with joy,
his chosen ones with singing.
‍44 He gave them the lands of the nations,

Acts 11:19-30; 13:1-3

Barnabas, Apostle

19 Now those who were scattered because of the persecution that took place over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, and they spoke the word to no one except Jews. 20 But among them were some men of Cyprus and Cyrene who, on coming to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists also, proclaiming the Lord Jesus. 21 The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number became believers and turned to the Lord. 22 News of this came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch. 23 When he came and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast devotion, 24 for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were brought to the Lord. 25 Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, 26 and when he had found him he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for an entire year they met with the church and taught a great many people, and it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called “Christians.”

‍27 At that time prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 One of them named Agabus stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine over all the world, and this took place during the reign of Claudius. 29 The disciples determined that, according to their ability, each would send relief to the brothers and sisters living in Judea; 30 this they did, sending it to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.

13:1 Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a childhood friend of Herod the ruler, and Saul. 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.

Hosea 14:1-9

1 Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God,
for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.
‍2 Take words with you
and return to the Lord;
say to him,
“Take away all guilt;
accept that which is good,
and we will offer
the fruit of our lips.
‍3 Assyria shall not save us;
we will not ride upon horses;
we will say no more, ‘Our God,’
to the work of our hands.
In you the orphan finds mercy.”
‍4 I will heal their disloyalty;
I will love them freely,
for my anger has turned from them.
‍5 I will be like the dew to Israel;
he shall blossom like the lily;
he shall strike root like the forests of Lebanon.
‍6 His shoots shall spread out;
his beauty shall be like the olive tree
and his fragrance like that of Lebanon.
‍7 They shall again live beneath my shadow;
they shall flourish as a garden;
they shall blossom like the vine;
their fragrance shall be like the wine of Lebanon.
‍8 O Ephraim, what have I to do with idols?
It is I who answer and look after you.
I am like an evergreen cypress;
your fruit comes from me.
‍9 Those who are wise understand these things;
those who are discerning know them.
For the ways of the Lord are right,
and the upright walk in them,
but transgressors stumble in them.

Hosea 8:11-14; 10:1-2

8:11 When Ephraim multiplied altars to expiate sin,
they became to him altars for sinning.
‍12 Though I write for him the multitude of my instructions,
they are regarded as a strange thing.
‍13 Though they offer choice sacrifices,
though they eat flesh,
the Lord does not accept them.
Now he will remember their iniquity
and punish their sins;
they shall return to Egypt.
‍14 Israel has forgotten his Maker
and built palaces,
and Judah has multiplied fortified cities,
but I will send a fire upon his cities,
and it shall devour his strongholds.

‍10:1Israel is a luxuriant vine
that yields its fruit.
The more his fruit increased,
the more altars he built;
as his country improved,
he improved his pillars.
‍2 Their heart is false;
now they must bear their guilt.
The Lord will break down their altars
and destroy their pillars.

Psalm 40:1-18

1 I waited patiently for the Lord;
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
‍2 He drew me up from the desolate pit,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
‍3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the Lord.
‍4 Happy are those who make
the Lord their trust,
who do not turn to the proud,
to those who go astray after false gods.
‍5 You have multiplied, O Lord my God,
your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us;
none can compare with you.
Were I to proclaim and tell of them,
they would be more than can be counted.
‍6 Sacrifice and offering you do not desire,
but you have given me an open ear.
Burnt offering and sin offering
you have not required.
‍7 Then I said, “Here I am;
in the scroll of the book it is written of me.
‍8 I delight to do your will, O my God;
your law is within my heart.”
‍9 I have told the glad news of deliverance
in the great congregation;
see, I have not restrained my lips,
as you know, O Lord.
‍10 I have not hidden your saving help within my heart;
I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation;
I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness
from the great congregation.
‍11 Do not, O Lord, withhold
your mercy from me;
let your steadfast love and your faithfulness
keep me safe forever.
‍12 For evils have encompassed me
without number;
my iniquities have overtaken me
until I cannot see;
they are more than the hairs of my head,
and my heart fails me.
‍13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me;
O Lord, make haste to help me.
‍14 Let all those be put to shame and confusion
who seek to sn**ch away my life;
let those be turned back and brought to dishonor
who desire my hurt.
‍15 Let those be appalled because of their shame
who say to me, “Aha, Aha!”
‍16 But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation
say continually, “Great is the Lord!”
‍17 As for me, I am poor and needy,
but the Lord takes thought for me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
do not delay, O my God.

Psalm 50:7-15

7 “Hear, O my people, and I will speak,
O Israel, I will testify against you.
I am God, your God.
‍8 Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you;
your burnt offerings are continually before me.
‍9 I will not accept a bull from your house
or goats from your folds.
‍10 For every wild animal of the forest is mine,
the cattle on a thousand hills.
‍11 I know all the birds of the air,
and all that moves in the field is mine.
‍12 “If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
for the world and all that is in it is mine.
‍13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls
or drink the blood of goats?
‍14 Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and pay your vows to the Most High.
‍15 Call on me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
