A Thank you Card that The Holy Name Society Received 12-2018

Just listening to Cardinal O'Malley on TV. He said a few things that stuck in my head, and I wanted to share it with my friends. He said we are not here by chance, we are here by design. We are here for a purpose. Well I say to you, what is your purpose here. Your a child of GOD and we are ALL worthwhile and all called by GOD. Once we realize that, the sadness and depression will lift and we can continue on our journey. God Bles

'Raised Up'
Late Advent Weekday
Go, tell my servant David, "Thus says the Lord: Should you build me a house to dwell in? ...It was I who took you from the pasture and from the care of the flock to be commander of my people Israel."
- 2 Samuel 7:5, 8
King David's impulse to build a house for the Lord appears both devout and generous. So why does God reject that idea, reminding David that he would still be tending sheep had God not raised him up to greater heights?
On this last day of Advent, it is good to focus yet again on our need for a savior, to see once again that we cannot save ourselves through ingenious schemes, heartfelt devotions or hard labor. Consider the path your own life has taken to this point: Could you have achieved anything of value if God had not been at your side?
The Lord does not bend to our private plans, however devout and generous they may be. But if we allow God to lead us, we will be raised to greater heights than we could ever imagine.
Lord, guide me in the way of your peace.
