🙏🏾Answering God’s Call: Congratulations to the Newest Josephite Priests 🙏🏾

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, we joined the entire Josephite family in celebrating the Priestly Ordination of Rev. Justus Ozioma Ihemawulotu, SSJ and Rev. Alexander Bariaala Lema, SSJ!

We give thanks to God for their faithful response to His call and for the many years of prayer, study, and formation that have led them to this sacred moment. As they begin their priestly ministry, we pray that the Lord will continue to bless them with wisdom, courage, compassion, and a heart devoted to serving God’s people.

Please join us in congratulating Fr. Justus and Fr. Alex on becoming Josephite priests today!

A special congratulations to Fr. The Josephites joyfully celebrate the ordination of two new priests, giving thanks to God for their generous response to the call of discipleship and service. As they begin their priestly ministry, we ask the faithful to join us in praying that the Holy Spirit guide and strengthen them as they proclaim the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments, and serve God's people. 🙏🏾 Celebrating Our 2026 Graduates! 🙏🏾

On Sunday, May 17, during the 11:00 AM Mass, Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church proudly celebrated our 2026 high school and college graduates during a beautiful Baccalaureate Mass and Reception hosted by the Young Adult Ministry.

Our graduates actively participated throughout the Mass by serving in various ministries and liturgical roles, making the celebration even more special and meaningful for our parish family.

This year, we honored a total of 8 graduates:
🎓 1 Master’s Degree Graduate
🎓 1 Bachelor’s Degree Graduate
🎓 6 High School Graduates — including one Class Valedictorian!

We were also blessed with an additional graduate, who joined us at the reception after earning his Bachelor’s Degree from LSU!

During the reception, we proudly awarded two $500 Pathway to Purpose Scholarships to support incoming college students as they continue their educational journeys. Congratulations to our scholarship recipients:

With faith in the Resurrection, we join the Josephite Community and the faithful around the country in honoring the life and legacy of Bishop John H. Ricard, S.S.J., Superior General of The Josephite Society.

Please continue to keep the Josephites, Bishop Ricard’s family, friends, and all who mourn his passing in your prayers.

🙏🏾 Our Lady of Grace Mourns the Passing of His Excellency Bishop John H. Ricard, S.S.J. 🙏🏾

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of His Excellency Bishop John H. Ricard, S.S.J., Superior General of the Society of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart (The Josephites). The sad event took place on Wednesday evening. Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.

With profound sorrow, we join the Josephite Community and the faithful across the nation in mourning the loss of a faithful servant of God and dedicated shepherd of the Church.

As Superior General of The Josephites, Bishop Ricard faithfully led the Josephite Fathers and Brothers with wisdom, humility, and a deep commitment to serving the African American Catholic community. A native of Louisiana, his life of ministry, leadership, and evangelization inspired countless people throughout the Church.

We are deeply grateful for his dedicated service to God’s people, his unwavering faith, and his lifelong commitment to the mission of the Josephites.

Please keep the Josephite Society, Bishop Ricard’s family, friends, and all who mourn his passing in your prayers.

May the soul of Bishop Ricard and the souls of all the departed Josephites rest in the peace of Christ. Amen.
