🙏🏾 Blessings on A New Journey! 🙏🏾

On Sunday, August 9, during the 11 AM Mass, our pastor, Fr. Roderick J.D. Coates, SSJ offered a special blessing to Jarrion Frank, our 11 AM Mass Choir drummer, as he prepared to embark on a new career journey out of state.

That day was Jarrion’s final Sunday serving in his role as the drummer for our 11 AM Mass Choir, and we are so grateful for the gift of his time, talent, and ministry to the Our Lady of Grace family.

Jarrion, the OLG Church Family and Community wishes you all the best as you begin this exciting new chapter. May God continue to guide your steps, bless your gifts and talents, and open doors for you wherever this journey takes you.

Please know that you will always have a church family here at OLG, and we will continue to keep you in our prayers. 🙏🏾

Congratulations on this new journey, Jarrion! May God bless you abundantly in all of your future endeavors!

Blessed solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary! Today is a day of joy, celebration, and hope! We rejoice with Mary and with the whole Church in the goodness and faithfulness of God.

The Assumption reminds us that God keeps His promises! Mary’s life from her courageous “yes” to her joyful Magnificat shows us what can happen when we trust God and allow the Holy Spirit to work through us. Today, we join her song: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!”

What a beautiful song for us! Our faith has always known how to rejoice, praise, sing, dance, hope, and give God glory. Generation after generation, our families and communities have carried a faith filled with joy; a faith that knows that God is present, God is moving, and God is still doing something new among His people.

Today, let us give thanks for our elders and ancestors, encourage our young people, celebrate our families, and continue building a Church where the fullness of our faith, culture, spirituality, leadership, and joy can flourish.

And like Mary, let us keep saying YES! Yes to the Holy Spirit. Yes to one another. Yes to serving our communities. Yes to forming the next generation. Yes to justice, dignity, and love. And yes to the mission God has placed before us!

May Our Blessed Mother cover our families, our parishes, and our entire Black Catholic community with her prayers.

Happy Feast Day! Let us rejoice and give God the glory!

Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church is excited to announce that our Annual Community Mass & Fellowship Day is coming up on Sunday, September 20, 2026!

We’ll begin with Mass at 10:00 AM in the church, followed by an afternoon of fellowship and family fun behind the church!

And trust us…you don’t want to miss what’s in store for the Fellowship portion of the day! Picture it: Jambalaya, Pastalaya, White beans, BBQ, Desserts, Music, Family bingo with prizes, a video game truck, Inflatables, 50/50 raffles, and plenty of opportunities to fellowship and make memories together!

Whether you’re a longtime member of our church parish, a returning friend, a neighboring community member, or someone joining us for the first time, there’s a place for you at the table!

🙏🏾 Celebrating Fr. Alexander Lema, S.S.J. & His Next Chapter! 🙏🏾

Last week, we celebrated Fr. Alexander Lema, SSJ with faith, love, fellowship, and a whole lot of OLG spirit during his last week at OLG before his next assignment!

At each Mass, Fr. Alexander received a different vestment as a special gift and token of our appreciation to carry with him as he begins his new assignment in Texas.

In true OLG tradition, Fr. Alexander also had the joy of blessing our August birthdays and wedding anniversary couples, making our First Sunday blessings even more special.

Fr. Alexander joined us for our Back-to-School Brunch, where he prayed over and blessed our students and educators as they begin a new school year.

To close out the week, the Young Adult Ministry gathered for a special Going Away Dinner with Fr. Alexander. We shared laughs, stories, conversation, and plenty of fellowship while reminding him that OLG will always have a place for him.

Although we’re certainly going to miss him, we are excited for Fr. Alexander and this new chapter in his priestly journey. Texas is gaining a great priest, and we know he will continue to be a blessing wherever God sends him!

Yesterday, Sunday, August 2, the Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church Young Adult Ministry was blessed to host an incredible Back-to-School Brunch in partnership with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Omicron Psi Lambda Chapter!

What a joy it was to welcome students, parents, educators, and members of our parish community as we came together to celebrate a new school year with fellowship, encouragement, delicious food, school supplies, a special blessing over the students and educators, and several giveaways. We pray that every student and educator has a safe, successful, and faith-filled school year!
