The church update e-mail from PB is here:
NWLife Family,
I hope you and your family enjoyed the extended holiday weekend—with at least one successful BBQ, right? At our house, there was a little camp fire and smores shared with nieces. It’s a tip of the cap to the incoming season…
In church life, the incoming season is called “Ordinary Time.” Mostly, it just means there aren’t any of the big high holy holidays during this season. It’s just normal, take-a-breath, ordinary time – which is also a delightful gift from God (Selah).
We had our first summer schedule 10:00am combined service on Sunday. Maybe it was just because I didn’t have a job assigned to me, but I sure loved that service. Each thing that happened, I felt like nodding my head, saying amen, smiling, and I felt kinda like looking over at my neighbor to say, “Oh, I like this church!”
The music, the prayers, the message, the people, the food, the kids errwhere…
Oh, I like this church!
If you missed Pastor Andy’s Pentecost Sunday message, I encourage you to take a few minutes this week to watch / listen. For some reason, I have this feeling it might be exactly what you need. Archived live stream of the service is available here: www.nwlife.church
I’m looking forward to sharing with you all this weekend at our one service together – 10:00am (with kid’s classes and nursery all staffed and ready for summer fun – always food and good times on the lawn after). This Sunday we will gather around the table for communion – and, of course, we’ll save a seat for you!
In every season runnin’ on love,
Pastor Brian
It’s a gift to joyfully recognize and accept our own smallness and ordinariness. Then you are free with nothing to live up to, nothing to prove, and nothing to protect. Such freedom is my best description of Christian maturity, because once you know that your “I” is great and one with God, you can ironically be quite content with a small and ordinary “I.” No grandstanding is necessary. Any question of your own importance or dignity has already been resolved once and for all and forever. ―Richard Rohr
