Albany Karma Thegsum Choling (KTC) is a Tibetan Buddhist Study and Meditation Center providing authentic teachings and practices of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Located in Rensselaer, NY, we are easily accessible to those living in New York's Capital District (Albany, Schenectady, and Troy). We are an affiliate center of Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD), the North American seat of

His Holiness the Seventeenth Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje. Albany KTC offers free meditation instruction, the study of Karma Kagyu Buddhist teachings in a group setting, the opportunity to learn more advanced meditation practices, and Tibetan language instruction. In addition, Buddhist teachers from around the world visit each year. Albany KTC is also fortunate enough to have our own resident Lama (teacher), Lama Zopa. Lama Zopa, a graduate of two Karma Kagyu Buddhist three year retreats, provides teachings weekly. Please be sure to look at our current schedule as well as our programs geared to folks new to Buddhism and meditation practice. We also have a growing library of online audio recordings available of teachings given at our center that cover a variety of topics found in Buddhism. Dear Friends, we have a big weekend coming up:

1. Saturday 6/13 at 9am, we will be broadcasting the White Tara reading transmission by HH Karmapa through our TV screen. We are very fortunate to be able to receive this from Karmapa who recently composed this White Tara text. We will be using room 101 (on the other side of the shrine room, enter from front)

2. ⁠Sunday 6/14 at 9am we will have our grand opening/shrine consecration ceremony. All are welcomed, please see the poster for more details on the program and registration. This is a great opportunity to join an all day event of consecration, gathering of merit, and purification. May Albany KTC activities benefit all sentient beings 🙏

We’re honored to have Khenpo Tenkyong leading practice this Saturday, his first time at the new center after it’s completed. Khenpo Tenkyong actually helped us move the shrine from prior location to the new location.

Saturday, 5/16:
10:00 am - 12:00 pm: Milarepa Guru Yoga with Tsok led by Khenpo Tenkyong.
In person at the center. If you like, you can bring a vegetarian snack-offering.

2:00 pm - 3:30 pm: Mahakala puja led by Khenpo Tenkyong. All are welcome to sit and listen.
