Well… the cosmos really said “let’s make it interesting.”

This week we’ve got:
✨ The clocks changing
✨ A Full Moon lighting everything up
✨ Mercury Retrograde stirring up miscommunication and tech glitches
✨ And it all wraps up with Friday the 13th

If emails get weird, plans change, emotions run high, or your technology suddenly decides it needs a nap… don’t panic. That’s just the cosmic weather.

This is a great week to:
🔮 Slow down and double-check details
🔮 Reflect instead of rushing forward
🔮 Get extra rest and stay grounded
🔮 Laugh when things go sideways

Remember: Mercury Retrograde isn’t here to ruin your life — it’s here to make you pause, rethink, and realign.

Good luck out there, everyone.
And yes… wash your hands. 🧼✨

Mercury Goes Retrograde Tonight ♄✨

Tonight, Mercury appears to move backward in the sky — and with it, we often feel shifts in communication, technology, travel, contracts, and clarity.

Before you panic or blame Mercury for every awkward text, let’s remember:

Retrogrades aren’t curses. They are *corrections.*

This is a season of:
🔮 Re-thinking instead of reacting
📝 Reviewing instead of rushing
📞 Clarifying instead of assuming
🧹 Cleaning up loose ends
🧘‍♂️ Slowing down your speech and your schedule

Double-check your emails. Back up your files. Read the fine print. Leave early for events. And maybe… don’t send that emotionally charged message tonight.

Spiritually, Mercury retrograde is powerful for:
• Journaling and reflection
• Revisiting old spiritual studies
• Reworking rituals or devotional practices
• Reconnecting with people from your past (with discernment)
• Divination focused on clarity rather than prediction

If miscommunication arises, ask:
“Is this a misunderstanding… or an opportunity to understand more deeply?”

Retrograde energy rewards patience and punishes impulsivity.

Let’s move intentionally.
Let’s speak carefully.
Let’s listen twice as much as we talk.

And remember — the cosmos is not against you. It is inviting you to refine.

How are you planning to work with this retrograde?

February 5–6 marks the Feast of Isis, a sacred Romano-Egyptian observance honoring Isis, the great goddess of healing, magic, protection, and restoration. Worshipped across Egypt and the Roman world, Isis was beloved as a divine mother, healer, and restorer of balance—one who gathers what has been broken and makes it whole again.

This feast celebrates Isis’ power to overcome chaos, grief, and disorder. Through devotion, ritual, and prayer, followers called upon her wisdom to bring healing to bodies, homes, communities, and the wider world. In Roman tradition, this observance was closely tied to renewal, purification, and the return of life and order after periods of darkness.

The Feast of Isis invites us to reflect on:
• Healing after loss or upheaval
• Reclaiming wholeness from fragmentation
• Trusting in renewal even after chaos
• Honoring compassion, resilience, and sacred care

You are warmly invited to join us for an Auset (Isis) Sopdet Devotional - Hwt Peret Auset as we honor her healing presence through prayer, reflection, and sacred intention.

May these days be a time to tend wounds seen and unseen, to call peace where there has been turmoil, and to honor the quiet, powerful work of healing.

Blessings of Isis to all who seek restoration and balance.

Dísablót, traditionally observed on February 4, is a sacred Norse pagan holy day devoted to honoring the Dísir—powerful female ancestral spirits and guardians of family, land, and fate. Held in the heart of winter, this observance marked a time when communities turned inward, offering reverence to those unseen forces that protect and guide their lineages.

Dísablót, translating to “sacrifice to the dísir,” was a pivotal event in Norse tradition. The dísir, encompassing figures like the Valkyries and possibly the Norns, were revered as guardians and influencers of fate. Honoring these female spirits was believed to ensure protection, prosperity, and a bountiful harvest.

The Dísir are believed to watch over homes and descendants, weaving luck, protection, and destiny across generations. During Dísablót, offerings were made and prayers spoken to strengthen the bond between the living and the ancestors—acknowledging that survival, prosperity, and identity are gifts carried forward through ancestral hands.

This holy day invites reflection on:
• Ancestral wisdom and inherited strength
• Gratitude for those who came before us
• Protection of home, hearth, and family
• Honoring the spirits who walk with us unseen

Dísablót reminds us that remembering our ancestors is an act of power and continuity. By honoring them, we ground ourselves more fully in who we are and where we come from.

Hail the Dísir. Hail the Ancestors.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Imbolc High Holiday Ritual and Iro Devotional last night!

A recap on our Discord from Sweatpeatrix said:
"What an absolutely stunning Imbolc ritual that was last night.
The altars were so beautiful and what the Celtic team brought to the evening with intention, helping us navigate burying the old and welcoming the new for this coming year, was impressive. Great job, all around, and the fellowship was 🔥!"

🕯️ Februalia: The Month of Purification 🕯️
February 1–28

In the ancient Roman calendar, February was known as Februarius—a month devoted not to celebration, but to cleansing, release, and spiritual preparation. During Februalia, homes were cleaned, bodies and spirits were purified, and offerings were made to the gods Februus and Februa, deities associated with purification, renewal, and the sacred act of letting go.

This was a liminal time: a threshold between the old year and the new. Romans understood that before renewal could arrive, what was stagnant or burdensome had to be cleared away—through ritual washing, smoke, prayer, and intention.

Februalia invites us to ask:
• What no longer serves me?
• What must be released before I move forward?
• How can I purify my space, my habits, and my heart?

This month, consider tending your home as a sacred space. Clean with purpose. Light incense or candles. Make small offerings of gratitude. Speak aloud what you are ready to leave behind.

Purification is not punishment—it is preparation.
Clearing is an act of love for what comes next.

May this season of Februalia bring clarity, lightness, and renewal as we ready ourselves for the turning of the year ahead.

On this Imbolc morning, we pause in the quiet of winter and listen closely. Beneath the cold earth and silver sky, life is stirring. The light is returning—softly, patiently, faithfully.

Imbolc reminds us that renewal does not arrive all at once. It begins as a spark. A candle flame. A whispered prayer. A promise carried through the longest nights.

This blessing honors Brigid, guardian of the flame, hearth, and holy inspiration—protector of home, creativity, and the living spark within us all. Today we tend that flame with care, trusting that what we nurture now will grow as the days continue to lengthen.

As you move through this day, may you feel the warmth of returning light. May your home be blessed, your path illuminated, and your heart reminded that spring is already on its way.

Blessed Imbolc. Let there be light.

We look forward to gathering in community tonight as we honor this sacred turning of the year.

🌕❄️ Full Snow Moon in Leo ❄️🌕
Sunday, February 1 at 5:09 PM

This Sunday evening, we welcome the Full Snow Moon, the second Full Moon of Winter. Traditionally named for the heavy snows that often fall this time of year, the Snow Moon reminds us that winter is still very much present—even as the light slowly returns.

But this year, the Snow Moon rises in Leo, bringing warmth, courage, and heart-centered fire into the coldest season. Leo energy invites us to shine, to claim our creative power, and to reconnect with joy, confidence, and self-expression—no matter how quiet or frozen things may feel on the surface.

Under this Full Moon, we are asked to balance the stillness of winter with Leo’s bold, radiant flame. It’s a powerful moment for self-honoring, creative intention-setting, and releasing anything that dims your light. Even in deep winter, your inner fire matters—and it deserves to be seen.

As the Snow Moon rises, take a moment to pause. Step outside if you can. Breathe in the cold air. Let the moonlight remind you that strength, warmth, and brilliance can exist even in the heart of winter.

Full Snow Moon blessings to you. May your light burn bright.

Imbolc marks the sacred moment when the balance begins to shift—the light returns. Though winter is not yet over, the days are noticeably growing longer. The darkness that once dominated now loosens its grip, and the first promise of spring is born in flame, breath, and intention.

Imbolc is the holy whisper that says: hope is alive.
It is the spark in the hearth.
The candle lit against the long night.
The quiet knowing that life is stirring again beneath the frozen ground.

This High Holiday invites us to proclaim: Let there be light—within our homes, within our communities, and within ourselves. It is a time to awaken inspiration, clarity, and courage, to name what we are calling forth, and to tend the fires that will carry us into the brighter half of the year.

Join us for our Imbolc High Holiday Ritual as we honor the returning light and step across the threshold together.

As many of you will have seen by now, due to the flooding damage and subsequent losses, Three Moons will be moving forward as an online store and moving out of the existing brick and mortar location. This was a difficult, but ultimately a financially necessary, decision to make. Of course we will miss the brick and mortar store, but we all look forward to the online side getting up and running!

Now, what this means for CHST: our current temple space is sub-leased from Three Moons, and we operate in one part of what is technically a single retail space. Since we cannot take over the lease for the entire space or get a partial lease for our bit of it, we are going to be moving too.

We have been working with a realtor to get a new, independent temple space, and have found one that looks very promising. Nothing is finalized yet, but we will keep that ball rolling so we can start the process of moving into a new space as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we will continue to hold all of our regularly scheduled events at one of our alternate locations, as we have for the past month. Keep an eye on the Discord channels and the Event announcements.

Hekate (Ἑκατη - Greek) is an ancient and vastly powerful goddess whose spheres of influence reigns over the liminal aspects of existence.
(Liminal is defined as the space between spaces such as doorways, windows, crossroads, beaches, dawn & dusk, life & death, and the transitions of power or the shifting of ages & turning of astrological periods.)

She was worshipped historically throughout a myriad of nations, time periods, and cultures, and rose to the heights of Her worship in Ancient Greece where she is seen as an unbound Titaness (Elder god).
Hekate remains one of the most venerated and widely known deities in modern practice and is a patron goddess to witches, herbalists, magickal practitioners, and those who strive to seek out the esoteric mysteries of our world.

Hekate is friend to the stranger, the outcast, and the outlier. She is a defender of the unseen and forgotten dead, and the teacher/companion of Persephone (who every year must learn the ways of the Underworld when she descends to the darkness below).

**Circles of the High Sierras Temple will be hosting our monthly New Moon celebration and Deipnon at 7:30pm tonight (12/1/24) at 1515 S. Virginia Street to honor the goddess Hekate!
The ritual is open and free to attend, though offerings to the goddess, food/drink to share, donations to our community pantry, or monetary donations to the temple space are always appreciated if one is able**
