We have a significant population of Canadian geese on the cemetery grounds. While their presence may be considered a nuisance, it is important to note that they are protected under federal law, specifically the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. This statute provides for both misdemeanor and felony penalties in cases involving the harm or killing of Canadian geese.

A misdemeanor violation is punishable by up to six months of imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $15,000, as outlined by the U.S. Department of Justice. A felony violation is punishable by up to two years of imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $100,000.

All individuals are expected to exercise caution and respect toward the geese while on cemetery property.

Thank You.

**ATTENTION**

We have a NEW watering a mowing schedule! For the first time in close to fifty years, we have revamped our mowing and watering schedule. Has taken effect this week, August 12th. We will be leaving flowers and decorations through August 25th and resume with the pickups on August 26th, to give people some extra time to get used to it.
We appreciate your patience and understanding. We have changed it around a bit in hopes of getting some extra water out to some of the sections. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the office anytime. Thank you.

The Cemetery uses irrigation water from the Highland Ditch. Each year the State Water Master turns the water on in late May and off in late September or mid October. In drought years it can be turned off as early as August we have no control over this. The water is turned on by a series of valves which takes 1/2 hour to turn off. We are only allotted enough water to water each section once per week. If we were to turn the water off in the section early for the day it would not receive it's allotted water until the following week and would develop dry areas. If we do not use all of our allotted water for the day any section is subject to spot watering. All run off water is recycled into the Orr ditch. Also during the watering season heavy fertilizers and w**d reducing chemicals are applied several times. This makes for fast growing lawns. We are a 501 (C) 13 non profit cemetery with limited staff. Because of this each section is only mowed once per week. Cemetery staff care very deeply for the care and upkeep of the lawns but it's impossible to please everyone. We endeavor to keep the lawns green by sticking to the schedule as much as possible. The water and mowing schedule is posted on the entrance road as well as the office and our web site. If you have a specific grave that needs attention, please stop by or call or office and request a work order. Thank you for your patience.
