Good evening, church family and Friends
Today, I want to speak about something that touches many lives, often silently—mental health. As believers, we know that God heals, restores, and comforts. But sometimes people carry pain that cannot be seen. A smile can hide anxiety. Worship can exist alongside depression. Strong faith does not mean a person never struggles.
The Bible reminds us in Galatians 6:2, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” That means we are called to create a church where people feel safe to speak, safe to cry, safe to ask for help, and safe to heal. Mental health struggles are not weaknesses, and they are not something to be ashamed of. Even great people in the Bible experienced deep emotional pain. David cried out in sorrow, and Elijah felt exhausted and hopeless. Yet God met them with compassion, not condemnation. Sometimes healing comes through prayer; sometimes it comes through counseling, support, rest, medical care, or simply having someone listen. God can work through all of these.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please do not suffer in silence. Help can be found through trusted pastors, Christian counselors, licensed therapists, support groups, doctors, family members, and friends who care. Seeking help is not a lack of faith—it is a step toward healing.
As a church, let us be more intentional about checking on one another. Let us replace judgment with compassion and silence with encouragement. A kind word, a phone call, or simply saying “I’m here for you” can change someone’s life.
And to anyone struggling today: you are loved, you are valued, and you are not alone. God sees you, and we as a church stand beside you. May we continue to be a community where faith and compassion walk hand in hand, and where healing—spiritual, emotional, and mental—is welcomed in the name of Christ.
