Purpose
Our purpose is

•To advance the Kingdom of God on earth through the proclamation of the Lordship of Jesus Christ
•To provide its members opportunities for broader fellowship
•To provide a means whereby the church will accomplish its whole task which is performed through individual members, congregations, fellowship groups, larger geographical associations and relationships with the whole

Body of Christ in the world
•The Christian Church recognizes the autonomy of each congregation


Affirmation of Faith
As members of the Christian Church, we confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and proclaim Him Lord, and Savior of the world. We rejoice in God, maker of Heaven and Earth, and in God's covenant of love which binds us to God and to one another. Through baptism into Christ, we enter into newness of life, and are made one with the whole people of God. In the communion of the Holy Spirit, we are joined together in discipleship and in obedience to Christ. At the table of the Lord, we celebrate with thanksgiving the saving acts and presence of Christ. Within the universal church, we receive the gift of ministry and the light of scripture. In the bonds of Christian faith, we yield ourselves to God that we may serve the One whose kingdom has no end.

Today, we pause to honor and celebrate the life of Ms. Eliza Mae Taylor whose legacy of faith and service touched the lives of many.

Ms. Taylor’s life was a testament to God’s grace. While we grieve her passing, we also give thanks for the many memories, lessons, and love she shared with all who knew her.

On behalf of the Piedmont District Convention, we extend our heartfelt prayers and deepest condolences to the Taylor family, Pastor Barry Hylton and Antioch Christian Church and all who mourn this tremendous loss. May God’s comforting presence surround you during this season, and may the cherished memories of Ms. Taylor bring peace and strength in the days ahead.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Antioch Christian Church with Rev. Barry Hylton officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM prior to the service at the church. A floating visitation will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel.

A Gentle Reminder from the Piedmont District Convention

Beloved PDC Family,

Please remember that there will be no 5th Sunday Gathering today to allow us to support the NC Regional Assembly. While we will not meet this Sunday, we look forward with great anticipation to worshiping together on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

We are especially excited that the Ministers Fellowship, under the leadership of Dr. Jackie McHenry, will be leading our worship experience in June.

Today the Piedmont District Convention pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

On this Memorial Day we reflect with gratitude, pray for the families of the fallen, and never forget the cost of the freedoms we enjoy each day.
