O God, who for our redemption gave your only-begotten Son to the death of the cross, and by his glorious resurrection delivered us from the power of our enemy: Grant us so to die daily to sin, that we may evermore live with him in the joy of his resurrection; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Join us at 10:00 am as we celebrate The Risen Lord! Alleluia! Alleluia! Our guest celebrant and preacher will be Reverend Melanie Barbarito.

The Great Vigil of Easter is the premier celebration of Easter in the Episcopal Church, held between sunset on Holy Saturday and sunrise on Easter Sunday. This dramatic service marks the transition from darkness to light, beginning with the Kindling of New Fire, the lighting of the Paschal Candle, and a series of readings tracing salvation history before celebrating the first Eucharist of Easter.

The Collect:

O God, Creator of heaven and earth: Grant that, as the crucified body of your dear Son was laid in the tomb and rested on this holy Sabbath, so may we await with him the coming of the third day, and rise with him to newness of life; who now lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Collect for Good Friday:
Almighty God, we pray you graciously to behold this your family, for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was willing to be betrayed, and given into the hands of sinners, and to suffer death upon the cross; who now lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Today we stand at the cross and behold the depth of God's love for the world: a love willing to be betrayed, to suffer, and to be poured out completely. In this place of sorrow and silence, we see that even the most shameful death has become the means of life. We hold close to the cross, trusting that nothing, not even death, can separate us from the love of God.
