For over 60 years, the Charles Novell School of Music has been dedicated to helping singers, musicians, and songwriters achieve their musical dreams and goals. Our mission is to support your ministry through our comprehensive programs. At CNS you can study voice, piano, guitar, bass guitar, drums, songwriting, music theory, performance, sound and audio, and even social media.

Our annual summer session will be held from June 22-28 at our new facility at Bethel University in McKenzie, TN. The theme for CNS25 is "New Season," reflecting our belief that God is leading us into a new chapter, and we invite you to join us on this journey. Our dedicated staff, who are successful in their careers and ministries, are eager to share their knowledge and experience with you. We also have an exceptional lineup of guest speakers and artists, including Billy Blackwood, Michael Booth, Allison Speer, Jonathan Wilburn, Mark Bishop, Dave Clark, Danny Funderburk, Shannon Smith, Kenna Turner, Danny Jones, Paul Secord, Joseph Reed, and Scott Godsey.

CNS is the perfect place to find the right person to ask the right question and get the right answer. It’s time for a "New Season"!

Registration is well underway for the Charles Novell School of Music next summer session. CNS25 will be held June 22-28 at Bethel University in McKenzie, TN.

The Charles Novell School of Music is thrilled to announce our transition to Bethel University, a move that promises to significantly enhance the opportunities we provide to our students. This “New Season” is filled with excitement as we see how God is providing us the expanded possibilities for training and nurturing the current, and next generation of singers, musicians, and songwriters.

We are committed to providing an environment where opportunities are given, creativity can thrive, and investments are made into our students lives, music, and ministries. Bethel University allows us to continue the CNS heritage, that we offer our students, in this new dynamic and supportive setting.

At CNS you can study voice, piano, guitar, songwriting, bass guitar, drums, audio/sound, and even technology. Classes are offered in Worship, Songwriting, Vocal, Music Theory, Instrumental Performance, and Sound Systems. Workshops are offered in Practice, Vocal Range Development, Stage Presence, Music Business, Ministry, Radio, Marketing and Promotion, Spiritual Enrichment, Social Media, and more. You also receive one set of Private Lessons.

We have a great staff of qualified teachers to work with you during the week along with a great list of special guests that will be there with us. Some of the guests for CNS25 will be, Michael Booth, Billy Blackwood, Scott Godsey, Jonathan Wilburn, Alison Speer, Danny Funderburk, Joseph Reed, Danny Jones, Dave Clark, Garry Sheppard, Mark Bishop and others.

4 ONE Quartet will be in Northern Mi this coming weekend! We always love getting together to sing some Southern Gospel Quartet music and we always love doing it in northern Michigan. If you are in the area we would love to see you!

I love seeing, working along side of, and just plain watching the interaction between Michael and the students who attend! This guy pours into our students and I watch in awe! I seen Him stay up late talking to students and just real! Thanks Micheal for coming to CNS!

The Charles Novell School of Music announces that Michael Booth will be back on staff for CNS24 to be held July 14-20, 2024 at Murray State University in Murray, KY.

Michael has been part of his family’s ministry, the Booth Brothers, for many years. The group has been privileged to sing with so many talented artists both while being part of the Gaither Homecoming program, and pursuing their own concert dates. There’s not an award that hasn’t recognized the professionalism, and industry success of the Booth Brothers.

Michael Booth is one of the premier talents in Gospel Music. The awards and platforms he’s experienced are impressive, but his desire to sing in such a way that the folks get just a glimpse of heaven is what truly sets him apart.

Rob Novell, President and Director of CNS, says... “We invited Michael to come to CNS22 as a guest for a day and he made such an impact on the students that I knew I wanted to have him more involved in what God has called us to do.” “Michael was with us for the week of CNS23. Watching him interact with, and influence, the music and lives of our students confirmed why God said we needed him around.” “What a guy like Michael Booth can do for our students is immeasurable. It’s truly an honor to have him back on board.”

CNS is a place where you can begin, continue or advance your music and ministry. Classes are offered in; Music Theory, Songwriting, Performance, Worship, Sound Systems, Piano, and Guitar. There are Workshops and Seminars in; Vocal Interpretation, Vocal Range Developing, Breathing, Arranging, Technology, Promoting, Marketing and Branding, Stage Presence, Emcee Techniques, and more. Private lessons are offered in Voice, Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Songwriting, Group Lessons, Sound, Social Media, and Technology.
