Topic: Introduction to Christian Theology

Course Description: In this class the focus will be to provide an overview of the doctrines of Scripture, the Triune God, humanity, salvation, sanctification and eschatology. Particular focus will be on understanding the diversity of thinking on key issues within the Christian tradition, modern theological movements, and using what is learned in the context of ministry.

Textbooks: Introducing Christian Doctrine, 3rd Edition, by Millard Erickson (included in cost of the class)

Day/Times: Monday Nights, 7-9pm; March 30-June 1 (no class on May 25, Memorial Day)

Course Description: This class will explore a biblical theology of spiritual formation, as well as the spiritual practices that are helpful as we seek to become conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. ⁣

Particularly attention will be given to these things as they apply to Christian leaders. How can Christian leaders care for their own soul? What are the dynamics of leadership that threaten the development of the inner life of the soul and how can we overcome them?⁣

Join our Biblical Preaching class!

𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: In this class we will dive deeply into how to prepare and deliver expository messages from the Bible. Students will have the opportunity to prepare and preach a message in front of the class. One does not have to be a “preacher” to benefit from the course as it will equip you to simply be a better communicator of the Bible in a variety of settings.⁣

Did you know our BASOM classes are not just for Pastoral Residents? All of our classes are open to anyone in the community who desire to grow in their faith and deepen their understanding of Christian Theology.

Our next class is on Christian Leadership and students will explore the character, vision, skills, and challenges of Christian leaders through bible study, reading and discussion. We will have pastors and ministry leaders from the Bay Area share each week.

We had an amazing time this past Sunday celebrating 6 BASOM graduates from our Pastoral Residency program. These men and women spent two years taking classes, learning about ministry and working in local churches gaining practical, hands-on experience. Along with their ministry mentors and families we celebrated their accomplishment, prayed over them and commissioned them to continue to do the good work the Lord has called them to here in the SF Bay Area.

𝗧𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗢𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻⁣
Course Description: Our English Bible contains 66 separate books written across a thousand years. ⁣
⁣
They can seem disconnected and contain vast little-explored territory. Yet the Bible tells a coherent story, or rather two stories: the story of creation within which unfolds the story of redemption. Biblical Theology focuses on how Scripture presents this unfolding drama: through creation, fall, restoration and consummation; through Adam, Israel, Jesus Christ, and the Church. ⁣
⁣
This course traces the storyline from the beginning of Genesis to the end of Revelation, from “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” to “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth.” ⁣
⁣
We will see how it all fits together. Throughout we will trace the loving purposes of God, learn of his intentions for humanity, and find our true human selves in the centrality of our Lord Jesus Christ.⁣
