Hello Westside Families,

As some of you may know, Mrs. Miranda’s husband has been in the hospital for the last month with acute pancreatitis. The doctors are looking at performing more surgeries soon to address fluid that is building up around his lungs and diaphragm.

Please be praying for their family during this beyond difficult time.

We are pleased to announce that we have hired Melody Curtis to be our new preschool teacher! She is a former Westside employee, having left due to COVID, but she is excited to be back and working with the little ones.

We are saddened to inform you that Mrs. Lily will not be teaching our Preschool Class this upcoming year. She has decided to take a break from full-time work, but she will still be around to sub for our school.

With her leaving, we are needing to hire immediately a qualified preschool teacher for the Blue Room (4-5 year olds). Details for the position are below. If you know anyone who is Christian and would be qualified for this position, please share!

Westside Christian School’s preschool recently experienced significant flooding due to a broken toilet hose. As a result, our preschool classes have been displaced into elementary classrooms, making space much tighter for everyone. The preschool building and playground are now off limits until the end of the school year, which is especially difficult with graduations and other important events coming up. We’re also waiting to hear if our fellowship hall has been impacted, which could mean moving our spelling bee and graduation ceremonies to the Church sanctuary. With summer school starting soon and tours for new families on hold, this disruption has affected our entire school community.

The funds raised will help us quickly purchase new rugs, toys, pillows, teaching materials, and other essentials to help our preschool flourish again. Your support will help us restore our building, replace damaged items, and get our students and staff back to their routines in time for summer school and the upcoming school year.

If you’re able to donate or share this fundraiser with others in our community, we would be so grateful. Many families in town have been part of our preschool over the years, and we’re hopeful that with your help, we can recover and continue providing a safe, nurturing environment for our children.

Our annual Trike-a-thon is happening Friday, September 26th!

For those new to Westside, our annual Trike-a-thon is a largest fundraiser of the year. Student's will bring their bike, trike, scooter, push bike, or anything else on wheels (nothing electric haha), to race around the school parking lot. Students can receive donations for the school by getting sponsors to donate either a flat amount or per lap. Last year we raised over $5,000 that was used to purchase PE equipment, classroom rugs, and help improve our campus in other ways.

This year, we hope to purchase new playground equipment with the funds raised!!

To help incentivize our students, prizes will be given again to our top fundraisers and the students who complete the most laps. We will break down the competition to preschool, kinder through 2nd, and 3rd through 5th. Prizes include donations from local businesses and much more!

This year we are adding Zelle as a payment option. Donors can simply scan the QR code and comment the student they would like the donation to count towards.

Donations are due by Friday, October 3rd.

Our new school year starts on September 2nd! We will be offering grades preschool through 5th, and we are so excited for the year ahead. We look forward to seeing everyone after a great summer and getting to know some new faces!
