Orlando Shuford was born on July 25, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, to Bernice (“Granny B”) and Ulysses Shuford. Later known affectionately to many as “Candyman” for his famous sweet tooth and “Squirrel” to his close friends and family. Orlando brought light to his family from the very beginning. He attended Calumet High School, where he graduated alongside the friends in his childhood neighborhood. In 1978, he sought a new location and moved to California, where he established himself in Los Angeles through his dedicated work with the Carpet Doctor and HP Tires. After a period of personal reflection and travel what he fondly referred to as a few years' vacation Orlando discovered a deep passion for arts and crafts. He returned to his passions in 2006 with a renewed creative spark eventually settling in Rialto, California.

It was in Rialto that Orlando met the love of his life, Jacqueline. The two shared 14 beautiful years of marriage, building a life centered on mutual support and laughter. During this time, Orlando channeled his artistic talents into a T-shirt making business, taking great pride in designing custom pieces for family reunions and special events.

Orlando’s legacy of love continues through his children and grandchildren: Sons: Thaduis Raymon Shuford and Christian Shuford. Grandsons: Thaduis Orlando Shuford and Sebastian Noah Raymon Shuford. Stepchildren: Stan, Rose, and Christopher, whom he loved as his own. Orlando was a pillar among his siblings: Cynthia, Colleen, Kimberly, Jocelyn, Willie, Earl, and Jameson. He was a favorite among his many nieces and nephews his "Boo Boos" and his “Squares” people who knew him as "Unk" or "Uncle Lando." He had a unique bond with each of them, loving them all in his own signature way.

Orlando Shuford, a man with a heart as big as his personality, was called home by our Heavenly Father on May 4, 2026. While he may no longer be with us in person, his smile , memories and his creative sayings will remain as tokens of a life well-lived. Orlando has now gained his wings, joining his beloved mother, Granny B, his father, Ulysses, and the many loved ones who preceded him in rest. Orlando will forever be loved and remembered in our hearts.

Orlando, you were here
and now you’re gone.
You left us here
to carry on.
I wish there was a way
to bring you back.
We thank the heavenly father
for having your back.
No more suffering. No more pain.
We’ll always love you
just the same.
As a husband, son, brother, father
and friend
you’ll be "Squirrel" until the end.
Love for us, from you
will be your legacy.
Rest now forever in peace, knowing that you are sorely missed.
Forever and always,
Jacqueline Smith Shuford
Wife and friend

I’m trading my sorrows
I’m trading my shame
I’m laying them down
for the joy of the Lord
I’m trading my sickness
I’m trading my pain
I’m laying them down
For the joy of the Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, Yes Lord!
Amen
