DAY 9 “Father in Heaven Yahweh today we ask for Your complete favor and protection over the October 10th Shasta Lake Outreach. We ask you Father to clothe us daily with Your complete Armor. That we would walk in peace we find in you, sharing the Gospel freely. That we would stand in truth and proclaim it with confidence in love. That we would recognize the need to walk in the righteousness of Christ protecting our hearts from hardness. May we wear with comfort, secure in our minds the salvation provided us through Jesus Christ, And with the Shield of faith may we see the fiery temptations, fears, doubts and more delivered by our foes, disarmed and destroyed by the power of our God, as we wield the Word in our hands, destroying every lie and falsehood brought for by the powers of darkness. All for the purpose that we would be Ambassadors for you on this Earth, in Jesus name we pray, amen. Ephesians 6:10-17

GO AND SIN NO MORE

One of my favorite examples of God’s grace is recorded in John 8:1-12. Here we read the story of the Woman caught in adultery and the amazing response of her Savior. As recorded there is no doubt of the woman’s guilt, after all she was “caught in the very act”. Yet Jesus first focuses upon the accusers, those who focused not upon the woman’s value but rather her failings. He points out their failure to recognize their own sin. Secondly He redeems the woman and gives her the following admonition: “Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.”
As I read this I am reminded of my own failings in the past, and the consequences of them. I am reminded how the responsibility to redeem my reputation is now completely in my control. How it is now my responsibility to seek forgiveness of those whom I have harmed or brought destruction to. How it is not their fault that trust will take time to restore, or how they may be uncomfortable in my presence. I am reminded that I alone chose to take the actions that brought Worldly judgement, rightfully so. How that even though my Lord and Savior has redeemed me, forgiven me, rescued me, and assured me of salvation, the failings of my flesh, have left scars and wounds.
Compromise always brings consequences and sometimes those consequences remain for longer than I would desire, or feel comfortable with. Yet through it all, I must remember that the Lord has redeemed me. That I am a new creature in Christ and no matter how difficult it may be I must persevere to protect myself from ever going back to who I once was.
The beauty of this passage is that our God has sent His Son to pay the price for our sins, that we are redeemed. The painful truth is however, we must live in a World that remembers our former failings, and only time and perseverance can bring trust. And the one’s who were harmed by our failings truly hold the key as to how long it will be, before they too can forgive, trust, and engage again.
I conclude with this amazing passage from Galatians 6:7-10 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”

DAY 2 “Father in Heaven Yahweh today we ask for Your complete favor and protection over the October 10th Shasta Lake Outreach. We ask that You would place a hedge of protection over and around everyone serving at this event, protecting them from every form of spiritual attack. We ask You Father to bind every principality, power, and rulers of darkness in Jesus name we pray, amen. James 3:4-10
"Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? 6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you."

IT’S ALL ABOUT PERSPECTIVE…

As I have read and pondered now for decades the Word of God, I have come to the conclusion that a healthy understanding and relationship with Him, begins with our perspective. While this perspective generally evolves it is nonetheless every bit as influential as anything else in our walk with God. If my perspective of God is that He is vengeful and judgmental then I perceive His law as bo***ge. If I perceive Him more as who He truly is then I understand that His direction as for my protection. This protection is from that which I do not see and cannot understand without His revelation, and a proper perspective.

While yes the Lord does require certain things of us for salvation, with the proper perspective I understand completely the need for those requirements. I also understand the benefit of them and the loving heart that placed them there for all mankind.

So as you see our relationship with God truly is all about perspective, do you see Him as angry and judgmental or do you see Him as a loving kind Father, one who provided His Son for your redemption. Yes Jesus is the key, His life, His Sacrifice, His resurrection, His Love, His grace and mercy. You see it really does all begin with our perspective doesn’t it?

In Jeremiah 18 the prophet describes what he witnesses as a potter is turning clay. In the process the clay was marred, or corrupted and injured, imperfect. Did the potter then discard the clay?No he did not, why? Because the clay still had value, it was the same clay he began with, yet not yet perfected. Therefore he sought to reshape it, to make it of more value. Have you ever looked at an amazing piece of glazed clay, possibly your own coffee cup, vase, or statuette, and truly thought of what it took to create such beauty? Or have you ever wondered as you walked across a field or mountain meadow that the very soil upon which you walked might hold. A treasure awaiting for someone to mold it, shape it, and make it a thing of beauty, something to be admired?
If you are like most of us, thoughts like this rarely enter our minds there are far too many other thoughts, destinations to be arrived at. Needs to be met and more, as the "tyranny of the urgent" leads our lives. However when we stop and take the time to survey our surroundings, to truly observe the creation of God, is it not marvelous, what He has created? What about when you look into the mirror, do you see a lump of discarded invaluable human matter, or do you see what He sees? What does He see, you ask, and how do you know?
I believe that God sees in everyone of His creation, the potential, the beauty, the value that can be reached at the hand of the potter, none other than He Himself. I believe He sees your hurts, your failings, your imperfections, and just as the potter at the wheel He does not purpose to discard you, but rather to re-form you. Through the sacrifice and suffering of Jesus Christ our Creator Yaweh will remove every imperfection, He will restore us, He will influence us, He will if allowed shape us into the very image of Himself. Not God's but rather children of God, worthy of the inheritance of our Father, just as with was in the beginning: Genesis 1:26-28.
Please take the time today to look beyond your own imperfections, beyond the imperfections of others, beyond the "tyranny of the urgent" and seek to see what your Creator sees, the great potential that comes from surrendering your life to, and trusting Him to make you of even greater value. Just like the potter He will not discard you, He will instead perfect you, no matter howmessy it is!
