This coming Monday, the County will consider legislation proposed by County Executive Sue Serino to ban sales of Kratom, a currently legal drug often sold over-the-counter near cash registers in convenience stores and gas stations that is proving lethal and perhaps as addictive as he**in.

In December 2025, Gov. Hochul signed laws to ban Kratom sales to individuals under 21 years old and to require any Kratom product sold in New York to carry a consumer warning label. Another bill awaiting the Governor's signature would outright ban a more concentrated derivative of Kratom known as 7-OH.

The State of Connecticut has already banned the use, sale, and distribution of both Kratom and 7-OH.

A lay leader in our parishes lost a nephew, also her godson, to a Kratom addiction. Please be aware of this drug in our community and pay attention to and advocate for county, town, and village efforts to address it.

Red Hook resident Susan Rohrmeier and her family are on a mission to regulate the sale of kratom after it tragically claimed the life of her nephew in 2024.

With parishioners participating, we wish you to know about this special way on Friday to remember loved ones who have died. This memorial event along the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park in Poughkeepsie features thousands of glowing luminaries, inspirational readings, music, and food and drink.

Attending the event is free. Purchase of a memorial luminary can be made via the website, and proceeds support the Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation.

Join us for Lights Across the Hudson, a luminary event celebrating those we have lost on Friday, July 31, 2026 from 7-9:30PM at The Walkway Over the Hudson.

Summer with Eleanor Roosevelt!

This past week, parishioner David Nandor took this lovely photo at the FDR Presidential Library in Hyde Park, NY. Doesn't Eleanor look delightful in her seat? This coming Sunday, come sit in the very church pews Eleanor did during summers as a child!

We'll worship with our sister congregation St. Paul's and Trinity, Parish, 39 Woods Road, Tivoli, beginning at 10 AM.

You are very welcome to stay for a Summer Ice Cream Social afterwards and, if you are an Eleanor admirer, visit the graves where Eleanor's parents and maternal grandparents are buried.

Alleluia.

This Sunday, July 5, the Bishop is coming! To cleave the heat, we'll worship early at St. Paul's, 9:00 AM, 39 Woods Road in Tivoli and celebrate Independence Day with special readings and prayers in the Episcopal tradition, and sing patriotic songs!

The prayer below is from the very first proposed Book of Common Prayer for the new Episcopal Church, after the Revolution War and independence from the Church of England.

Isn't the prayer exquisite?

We'll be at Christ Church tomorrow, Sunday, for worship beginning at 10 AM. As we continue the Season of Freedom, we'll proclaim the possibility that one can love one's nation while yet being honest about where it has fallen short of its founding vision and proclaimed values. The deepest patriotism requires awareness and telling the truth, with love.

For those who like the Black National Anthem, we'll be singing this! Lift every voice!

Happy Pride, Blessed Juneteenth, Joyful Father's Day to all.

This coming Sunday, June 14, Flag Day! We'll be at our sister parish St. Paul's and Trinity Parish in the Village of Tivoli for a special Flag Day Service of Prayer, to open the Village's full Sunday of celebrating the US Declaration of Independence and the nation's founding. We begin early, at 9:00 AM!

Did you know that one among the five drafters of the Declaration also is buried at St. Paul's and is a founding father of both the parish and nation? Chancellor Robert R. Livingston!

Come pray for the nation, claim the freedoms and responsibilities of our national life, proclaim the good news to all of God's people.
