KPL ONLINE BOOK STUDY GROUP UPDATE: Greetings Dharma Friends!

The KPL Study Group next meets June 23, 2026, at 7 p.m. Eastern DaylightTime. We will conclude our book study of "The Intelligent Heart: A Guide to the Compassionate Life" by Dzigar Kongtrul. The meeting will start with 30 minutes of quiet meditation, followed by discussion. We will focus on the remaining section of Jamgon Kongtrul's original text presented in the book's appendix, pages 196-223.

Guru Rinpoche Puja – In person & streaming

This practice is held on the 10th lunar day. It is an extended version of the feast (tsok) sadhana of Guru Rinpoche from the terma of Terchen Barway Dorje. The tsok is primarily a practice of offering, but is also a very powerful method for healing our spiritual connection with our guru and sangha members. Through the practice of tsok offering, we swiftly accumulate merit and wisdom, and purify our obscurations, which is the essence of the path to buddhahood.

KPL will celebrate with the chanting of Praises to the Sixteen Arhats.

The First Turning of the Wheel of Dharma, which is known as Chokhor Duchen in Tibet, is an important holiday in which we honor the day that the Buddha Shakyamuni first taught the four noble truths in Sarnath, India, and turned the wheel of the dharma after attaining enlightenment.

It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of Robert A. F. Thurman, one of the foremost scholars, translators, and advocates of Tibetan Buddhism in the modern world.

On behalf of the community of Kunzang Palchen Ling, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Professor Thurman’s family, friends, students, and all who were touched by his life and work.

We offer prayers for his swift journey through the bardos and for the continued benefit of his vast legacy of wisdom, compassion, and service to the Dharma.
