The peculiar work of the third angel has not been seen in its importance. God meant that his people should be far in advance of what they are today. But now, when the time has come for them to spring into action, they have the getting ready to do. When Satan made his advances, it was high time for the watchmen on the walls of Zion to arouse and counteract his efforts to obtain the advantage. It is not in the order of God that light has been kept from our people,--the very present truth which they needed for this time. Not all of our ministers who are giving the third angel's message, really understand what constitutes that message.

Now since God is Spirit, cannot get weary, and yet He rests, and He invites us to share His rest, it follows that the Sabbath is not for the purpose of resting the body. The night is given for rest, and nobody has any business to get so wearied by his daily toil that he cannot get rested over night, so as to be fresh in the morning. The night is given for physical rest, and the Sabbath for spiritual refreshment. If man needed no other rest than rest of body, there would be no need for the Sabbath; and whoever comes up to the Sabbath so jaded in body that he is obliged to devote all or a portion of it (the night, of course, excepted) to sleep and physical recreation, is not a keeper of it, but a Sabbath-breaker.

The blood is formed in the body from the food eaten. So Christ is formed in us from eating His flesh and drinking His blood.

We need to understand these words of Christ, “The flesh profiteth nothing. The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life”—the Holy Word accepted and brought into the practical life. Spiritual life consists in Christ’s being the light and life of the soul temple, as the blood is the life of the body. All who study the Word are represented as eating the Word, feeding on Christ. Even as the bodily necessities must be supplied daily, so the Word of God must be daily studied—eaten and digested and practiced. This sustains the nourishment to keep the soul in health. The neglect of the Word means starvation to the soul. The Word describes the blessed man as one meditating day and night upon the truths of God’s Word. We all are to feast upon the Word of God. The relation of the Word to the believer is a vital matter. Appropriating the Word to our spiritual necessities is the eating of the leaves of the tree of life that are for the healing of the nations. Study the Word, and practice the Word, for it is your life.

Salvational is an adjective that means deliverance from sin, danger, or difficulty, or the means of effecting salvation:

• Deliverance from sin: In religion and theology, salvation is the deliverance of the soul from sin and its consequences. In the New Testament, salvation is the deliverance from the penalty of sin, which is eternal death, and the gift of eternal life.

• Liberation from ignorance or illusion: Salvational can also mean liberation from ignorance or illusion.

• Preservation from destruction or failure: Salvational can also mean preservation from destruction or failure.

• Agent or means of salvation: Salvational can also mean the agent or means that effects salvation.

The word salvational was first used in the 1850s, with the earliest evidence being in the writing of biblical scholar John Eadie in 1859. Synonyms of salvational include deliverance and rescue.

Truth must reign in the heart and life, or be exterminated. We cannot serve God and mammon; and the cause of God is first in the heart or it is not there long. The Spirit may strive long with the half christian, but this is not the communion of the saint, but rather a struggle between good and evil; and so it should be regarded. It is unsafe to rest satisfied while this struggle is continued. While this contest is yet undecided let us beware of the drowsy stupor peculiar to enchanted ground.

We are in the great day of atonement, and the sacred work of Christ for the people of God that is going on at the present time in the heavenly sanctuary should be our constant study. We should teach our children what the typical Day of Atonement signified and that it was a special season of great humiliation and confession of sins before God. The antitypical day of atonement is to be of the same character. Everyone who teaches the truth by precept and example will give the trumpet a certain sound. You need ever to cultivate spirituality, because it is not natural for you to be heavenly-minded. The great work is before us of leading the people away from worldly customs and practices, up higher and higher, to spirituality, piety, and earnest work for God. It is your work to proclaim the message of the third angel, to sound the last note of warning to the world. May the Lord bless you with spiritual eyesight. I write this in love, seeing your danger. Please consider these things carefully and prayerfully.

"I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."
Union is the strength; division is weakness. When those who believe present truth are united, they exert a telling influence. Satan well understands this. Never was he more determined than now to make of none effect the truth of God, by causing bitterness and dissension among the Lord's people.
