Our church family had the opportunity to spend some time yesterday evening with Melissa Barksdale, her husband Ricky, and her mom Betty, to sing a few songs together. What a sweet and special time of fellowship it was!

We are so thankful for Melissa and ask everyone to continue keeping her and her family in your prayers in the days ahead. 🙏

There’s just something special about God’s people coming together to encourage one another, lift each other up, and share the love of Christ through fellowship and song! 🎵 🎶

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our oldest and longtime church members, Horace Fowler.

Horace was very active in various roles here at here at New Union including serving as for many years as our Sunday School Director and was a faithful member of our choir. We are thankful for the many years he was a part of our church family. His presence, faithfulness, and the memories he leaves behind will always hold a special place.

The video below is from a recording we had made in 2019, when New Union was celebrating 120 years of existence. We are so thankful to have this recording of Horace and the opportunity to hear him share memories from the life and history of our church. It is something we will treasure for years to come.

Funeral Arrangements for Horace are as follows:

Visitation will be Friday, August 28, from 12:00–2:00 p.m. with the funeral beginning at 2:00pm, all here at the church.

Please remember the Fowler family in your prayers during the days ahead. We are grateful for Bro. Horace’s many years at New Union and for the legacy and memories he leaves with our church family.

Whether you purchased a plate, donated, volunteered, brought food, helped serve, prayed, or supported the benefit in any way — thank you! The outpouring of love and generosity from our community has truly been a blessing.

🎨 Bring the kids! We’ll have a special banner set up for Melissa, and we’d love for the kids to color, decorate, and sign it with encouraging messages for her!

We will have an abbreviated morning worship service at 9:00 AM in the G.R.A.C.E. Building (Gym). There will be no Sunday School. We also will not be live streaming the worship service.

Come by and enjoy a delicious BBQ plate while supporting a wonderful cause!

All proceeds will go to Melissa!
