📖 Church History Spotlight | Antioch Missionary Baptist Church

Every church has a story, and we’re thankful for the faithful men and women God has used throughout the years to build His kingdom at Antioch.

Our church began as a mission in October 1962, led by Bro. Thurman Holt. Just a few months later, on February 5, 1963, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church was officially organized with 23 charter members. Among those faithful founding members was Deacon Bro. J.G. Slaven, whose service helped establish a strong foundation for generations to come.

Through the years, God has blessed Antioch with faithful pastors who have shepherded our church family:

• Bro. Thurman Holt (1963–1970)
• Bro. Jack Bearden (1970–1973)
• Bro. John Kafka (1974–1981)
• Bro. Gene Hogan (1981–1987)
• Bro. Curtis Hogan (1987–1990)
• Bro. Gene Hogan (1990–1993)
• Bro. Robert Moore (1993–1994)
• Bro. Larry Jolly (1994–1997)
• Bro. Don Morris (1998–1999)
• Bro. Larry Jolly (1999–2001)
• Bro. Marvin Tate (Beginning January 1, 2002)
• Current Pastor: Bro. Josh Vangilder

As we look back with gratitude, we’re reminded that every season of Antioch’s history reflects God’s faithfulness. We honor those who have faithfully served before us and look forward with anticipation to all God has planned for the future.

🌿 Faith doesn’t mean you always understand the journey.

Sometimes it simply means trusting God enough to take the next step anyway.

⛪ The church in Acts wasn’t perfect, but it was powerful because the people were united in prayer, faith, and purpose.

They worshipped together.
Prayed together.
Served together.
And God moved among them.

What a reminder that when God’s people come together with sincere hearts, lives can still be changed. 🙏
