Thyatira Cemetery

Thyatira Cemetery This is a page for Thyatira Cemetery in Readyville, TN. This is a Community Cemetery. That was how the land was originally donated.

Thyatira Cemetery is a Community Cemetery that is open to anyone from our community. It was specified that we use it only for the community so that is what we maintain. Our organization is only there to keep the cemetery maintained and mowed. Individual grave upkeep is left to the family members for things like sunken graves or flowers. Old flowers should be taken home with the family for disposal

because we do not have regular trash pickup. All mowing and maintenance is paid for by donations made by family members. Please do not put little statues and items around the tombstones that make it harder for the mowers to mow and trim. That helps us keep the costs down. Thank you for visiting our page.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charlie Harrell, who passed away on May 1, 2026, in Oregon, with his family by his side.
Charlie served with dedication as a member of the board of directors and as treasurer for many years. He was the son-in-law of Ellis Thomas, one of the founding members of the Thyatira Cemetery non-profit corporation. Charlie took great pride in continuing that legacy, managing the trust fund and donations to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery.
Charlie will be sorely missed by all who knew him. We ask for your prayers for his family during this difficult time.

We will have our Annual Meeting of certificate holders and the general public on May 17th at 3pm at the Bradyville Church of Christ in Bradyville. We will discuss general news about the cemetery and go over the financial report and any new topics that wish to be discussed. If you want to vote on anything you need to be a certificate holder. But everyone is welcome to attend. More information is available about Certificates on our website if you are interested.
Hope to see you all there.

Welcome to the official website for Thyatira Cemetery. This site will hopefully grow to allow more information. For now it will be a description of the cemetery and its board of directors.

Just a reminder that Decoration Day at the Cemetery is coming up on the Second Sunday in June. So that weekend of June 13-14th will be a time to freshen up the flowers and Markers of loved ones.
As a reminder, please take the old flowers home to dispose of them. The trash cans get filled up so fast and we just volunteer to take off the trash from those barrels so taking the flowers home to dispose of them really helps us out.
Thank you very much.

This bench has been at the cemetery for years but it originally was placed on empty ground. But now it is in the way of some burial sites. Plus it is deteriorating and crumbling away. We are going to eventually remove this bench. Since this bench was placed there, the bylaws have been modified to not allow benches, buildings, trees, statues or shrubs from being placed in the cemetery. This is to keep down clutter and keep from hindering the landscapers. We do not know who placed the bench there and we left it because it was grandfathered in before the bylaw change and it wasn't hurting anything. But now it is interfering with burial sites and must go. We had to move it today because of an upcoming burial.
Thank you all for everyone's cooperation in keeping Thyatira Cemetery in good shape.
We on the board are doing our best to keep it maintained.
Thank you

It's with deepest regret that we announce the passing of Russ Thomas, Thyatira Cemetery Board Member and President.

There are some really nice flower arrangements near the front of the cemetery that have blown off of tombstones. We don't know which tombstones they came off of.
