Shillington Church of Christ A HOSPITAL FOR SINNERS, NOT A HOTEL FOR SAINTS.....A place where JESUS IS LORD, a place where you are Learning its truths is a thrilling adventure!

Shillington Church of Christ has a long and rich history in Berks County, PA. From our early days when people met in members' homes, our goal has been to provide a place for sincere Christian disciples to "Be" and to "Become." We hope that you will feel right at home when you are with us. If you are searching for a church home, there is a special place here just for you and your family. A Place fo

r Worship
The primary reason we meet together is to focus our attention on God, giving Him our worship and receiving His blessing and inspiration. Each of these occasions is a special time of spiritual refreshment. We hope this is what you experience when you gather with us! A Place for Learning
To us, studying the Bible is vital because it not only instructs us intellectually, but also guides us spiritually. We believe it and accept it as God's Word to us, a book that is alive and relevant to life today. A Place for Enrichment
For every person at every level, we offer a wealth of opportunities -- special programs and ministries for children, youth and adults which fill the church calendar. You can be sure that in this kaleidoscope of activities, there's more than one way for you to be personally enriched! A Place for Friendship
Nothing quite compares to the joy of Christian friendship. That's why we make it a priority to build lasting bonds between the members of our church family -- bonds of concern and genuine commitment to one another. Best of all, this circle of care is ever-widening. We'd love for it to include you too! A Place for Service
Just as Jesus came "not to be ministered unto, but to minister . . ." we accept our responsibility to reach out in service to others. This applies both within the church family and outside of our fellowship. If we can serve you, let us know. We hope to include your talents and abilities in future service to others!

Some questions we try to answer in this message from Job:
• Since God created everything, did He create evil?
• Why doesn’t God just stop evil?
• Why does God allow satan to hurt Job?
• Is the law of retribution true?
• How does God respond in prayer when we suffer?
• How should we respond to those we love?

As I humbly remind everyone as an evangelist, we as humans are all "terminal" and we all will one day get some kind of diagnosis that will force us to grapple with our mortality. This prayer helps so much to remind us that we are never alone & we can face an unknown future with God. One of our sisters here at Shillington church of Christ who is herself facing cancer with an incredible attitude, courage, and faith shared on her page this beautiful prayer (I am not sure who wrote it).

Lord, thank you that you are bigger than my diagnosis. You are more powerful than the report, greater than what doctors have found or what medical science can explain.
This diagnosis feels overwhelming, defining, like it's the final word on my future. But it's not, because You have the final word and You are bigger than this. Teach me to hold this diagnosis in perspective, to acknowledge it without giving it more power than You, to face reality while remembering You're greater than any reality.

You created my body, You know every cell, every system, every detail the doctors are just discovering. And You know what's a crisis to them is not beyond Your ability to handle. Help me trust You with this diagnosis. To bring my fear and questions to You, to believe You're working even through medical challenges, that healing comes from Your hand. Remind me that diagnoses describe current conditions, not final outcomes, and that You've healed the incurable before. Nothing is impossible for You.

Give me peace that doesn't depend on good news from doctors but rests in knowing my God is bigger than any diagnosis, any prognosis, any medical limitation. Let me face this with faith, knowing my God is bigger than my diagnosis, trusting You whether You heal miraculously or sustain me through treatment. Because, either way, You are greater and I trust in You. In Jesus' name, Amen

Family, we are rejoicing with the angels that Malachai Cheatham, Ann Bennett's son, was baptized today, Friday, April 24!!!!!!!!!! He and Tom had been studying Scriptures together. He is very hungry for God's Word and to understand His plan for his life. Check out the pics! Please pray for Malachai as he has to return to Brooklyn, NY for a few months and then he will return back to Shillington. Tom and I are going to disciple him and help him grow. Rejoicing, Chris

"WHAT DO YOU LOVE MORE: THE GIFT OR THE GIFT GIVER?" (Genesis 22:1-19) Of all the stories of the Bible, this is probably not only the most misunderstood, but the most difficult to understand. Why would God ask Abraham to sacrifice his son Issac? What is going on here? We will seek to understand from a Jewish cultural perspective. Why does God test our faith? How can we pass the test? There are some surprising and practical truths here for everyday living!

Did you know you can prove the resurrection of Jesus without the Bible? If you have doubts about the resurrection, listen to this message! Why is the resurrection so important and foundational to Christianity? The Apostle Paul said, "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins" (1 Corinthians 15:17). In this message, we share the two common arguments skeptics have who do not believe in the resurrection of Jesus. In the end, we share the five things that prove the resurrection without the Bible. And we share how we can become a follower of Jesus.
