Faith Forum September 27, 2026

For our September Faith Forum we are able to bring back folks from One by One Cat Rescue in Fleetwood after their January presentation was snowed out. If you are interested in local animal welfare/rescue/shelters this will be an interesting presentation from people committed to making better lives for stray, abandoned, and surrendered cats. We’ll meet on Sunday 9/27/26, 9-10 am, in the Heritage Room. See you there!

It’s that time again to start thinking about S4-Second Sunday Sunday School. We will start the 2026-2027 season on the usual Second Sunday of the month - September 13, 2026 - meeting at our usual time - following the 10:30 am service - and at our usual place - the Pine Room. We will be playing a Jeopardy-type Bible Trivia game. It’s very low pressure and advanced Bible knowledge is not needed. This is meant to be fun. Also as usual, we will have a potluck lunch so please sign up on the sheet in the Narthex or email Betsy Majewski at [email protected] so we know how many are coming and what food we will have. Please, please, please sign up as this is important information for those planning the gathering.

It’s that time again to start thinking about S4-Second Sunday Sunday School. We will start the 2026-2027 season on Sunday September 13, 2026, meeting at our usual time (following the 10:30 am service) and place (the Pine Room). All Souls Ecumenical Catholic Communion and Calvary United Church of Christ present a concert featuring Bobby Jo Valentine, with all ticket proceeds to benefit The LGBT Center of Greater Reading and Reading Pride Celebration.

What a great day at Berks Pride yesterday (July 19, 2026)-and Calvary represented well the love of God for everyone. We had a great time passing out water, stickers, and temporary tattoos, eating a delicious lunch from Chris and Bill (and delivered by Steve), petting Tessa (IYKYK), engaging with the bead bracelet makers, connecting with each other, and connecting with the people who came to enjoy the festival. Although we felt we didn’t have as much foot traffic this year, it seemed more people took note of who we are because we have a new tent with Calvary’s name and that we are an ONA congregation. There were folks who took brochures about the church including a woman who is a licensed counselor/therapist who is always on the lookout for safe spaces to share with her LGBTQ+ clients. Love, love, love that we are now part of her list.
Thanks to all who participated and helped in so many ways-Charlie, Mary, Sue, Gail, Diane, Bob, Steve, Chris, and Bill. Hope to see you, and anyone else who wants to join us, next year (July 18, 2027?).
