I’m feeling overwhelmed by life lately.
My husband and I had an impromptu date yesterday where I shared that I just feel there isn’t enough time in a day. He’s working and going to school and it’s meant I only see him for an hour or so some days, broken up in 20-30 minute chunks.
Which means the bulk of the home and the kiddos has fallen to me.
And, to be honest, I’ve spent the last two months oscillating between playing the victim or the martyr depending on the day.
Yesterday I said, “If I cut back any more on my writing and work with Beggar’s Daughter, I might as well just shut it down.”
Then this morning as I complained to God in prayer about the current state of chaos, it’s like He said, “No time, huh? Really? Because you seem to have plenty of time to scroll Instagram. So much so that your daughter now pretends to make slime videos. You seem to have plenty of time to play that little matching game. What level are you on now? 740? What is that? 30 levels this week?”
It’s a struggle I’ve had for years, escaping, running, burning time when I feel overwhelmed.
But there’s a Psalm that says, “When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.”
Not “lead me to Instagram” or “lead me to that matching game” or even “lead me to a workout” or “lead me to coffee.”
Lead me to the rock.
But so often when we’re overwhelmed and tired, we seek to disconnect instead of connect. We want the vacation, the weekend.
We search for absence instead of presence.
We run instead of pursuing true rest.
So, the call was clear this morning. I’m taking IG off my phone for the month of October. I will be popping on for some scheduled content and neat projects, but I won’t be as active. Because let’s be honest: I only do my work for like 10 minutes a day. The rest of the time I spend mindlessly scrolling my explore page.
So, I’m off for October. Hoping to reset what my mind and body crave.
Big things coming:

• Tell10 initiative for my upcoming book! More info on that soon but you can see info on the book in my Quenched highlight
