A man convicted of first-degree murder says he faced the death penalty while following Islam and Moorish beliefs. In desperation, he fell to his knees inside his prison cell and cried out to Jesus.

His death sentence was later overturned. Still incarcerated, he now serves as the prison’s Christian community facilitator, preaching, teaching and leading other inmates in faith.

“I cried out to Jesus, and Jesus answered me,” he said. “This is the best time I’ve ever had in my whole entire life.”
