Mission Team Update:
The Raytown Summer Lunch Ministry is again distributing sacks of groceries to Raytown families once per week during the summer. They have already begun! Southwood has been part of this ministry since it started many years ago when we used to help prepare and distribute daily lunches to Raytown children.

Because of your faithful giving, Southwood will send our usual financial support as well as a gift from Rummage Sale proceeds. If you would like to donate to the ministry, you can write Summer Lunch on the memo portion of your check or online gift.

Green Justice update:
Soon there will be a link in the eXpress where you can check to see what “extra” items can be recycled at Southwood. Of course here at Southwood, we strive to be as green as possible. We no longer use paper plates, cups and napkins during Fellowship. We recycle paper, cardboard, aluminum and plastic that is produced at the church. But what may change from time to time are the “extra” items that you can bring from your home to be reused or recycled. This is what will be listed in the link in the eXpress that you can refer to. The document will also tell you where to put the “extra” items you bring.

Currently:
*Clean prescription medicine bottles with label removed (put above rolling recycling bin)
*Used coffee pods (put in the box designated for these by the coffee cabinet)
*Aluminum cans (smashed – put in designated can by the exterior door in the
Fellowship Hall) smashed if you bring them here. If you recycle these at home,
please do not smash flat – the sorting machines like them to be 3-D
*Clean adult clothing for Shelter KC (put in the designated barrel in the Narthex)
*Plastic bags (put in the designated basket in the Narthex)
*Clean egg cartons (put above rolling recycling bin)

We are collecting items to assemble hygiene kits for the Migrant Farmworkers! And rice and beans too. Please bring the following items by June 28:
-individually wrapped toothbrushes
-toothpast
-small combs
-wash cloths
-individually wrapped bars of soap
-dry pinto beans
-white rice (not instant)

Mark your calendars to try something different! On June 28 we will gather for Sunday service at 10 am but *we* will be doing the service. We plan to put our faith in action with multiple project opportunities that morning. Hope to see you there!
