First Baptist Church of Ravenswood Sun. School 9:30 am, Sun. Worship 10:45. and Sun. Youth at 6:00. Christians with Coffee @ 6:00. Wed. Adult Bible Study @6:30

The First Baptist Church, with fifteen charter members, was organized November 10, 1866 as the result of meetings held by Reverend J. Swiger, missionary for the American Home Missionary Society. In June of 1876 the church purchased the lot on which the present church building stands. In the fall of the same year the foundation was laid for a building 36x61 feet and in May of the following year the frame was erected. We are a loving and caring church and may we ever continue to be such.

Pastor Toby and the boys lost to the girls and Ms. Brittany at VBS in the mission fund - fund raising challenge. As such, Pastor Toby had to climb the giant slide at the pool and take the plunge as punishment fully dressed. He didn’t want to get his beautiful hair wet and he was afraid of heights. But he did it. He tried to use the lower slides, but the kids said NO.

It was an exciting end to our “True North” Bible School this week. We averaged 73 each night for the week. Our end-of-season Bible School pool party had 115 present for swimming and pizza! Thanks to everyone for a great VBS. The kids collected $1,000 this year for their mission project of buying beds for kids in need through Jackson County for Sleep in Heavenly Peace. That will buy four complete beds. The girls raised more money than the boys, so Pastor Toby had to go down the giant slide as punishment. He didn’t want to get his beautiful hair wet, and he was afraid of heights. See the video in our next post! God is good! Thanks to the parents for letting your kids get involved.

Another great night at the True North Vacation Bible School at First Baptist. We had 71 kids and adults tonight. The kids gave just over $1,000 in their mission offering, which is enough to buy four new beds for Jackson County Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Our goal was one bed. Since the girls collected more money than the boys, Pastor Toby has to go down the giant water slide this Wed at the pool. He hates heights and doesn’t want to get his hair wet. Brittany was spared, but she lost a trivia contest and got a pie in the eye. She got even with Pastor Toby and blasted him with one, too. It’s been a great week. Join us for our final night of VBS on Wednesday at 6:00 at the city pool. The VBS pool party is open to all families. Bring a friend; we’ll have pizza.

It's Tuesday! It's Bible School tonight from 5:30-8:00. Don't forget to bring your offering. The money collected goes to Jackson County Sleep in Heavenly Peace to buy beds for kids in the county who don't have one. We've raised enough $250 so far to buy one bed. This is the last night for that offering. BTW, Don't worry about the rain. We'll still have a great time! Did we mention Ms. Brittany gets a pie in the eye tonight. See you soon!

We had 74 tonight with kids and adults at VBS. It was another wintry evening, and we included a new game, “Ice Potato,” our version of hot potato but with ice cubes. We look forward to another exciting night tomorrow. The kids have already raised enough in their offering to buy one bed for Sleep in Heavenly Peace Jackson County. Can we get two? One more night of the offering left.

We've got 70 at VBS to kick things off! It's snowing here at True North VBS. It will be snowing tomorrow, too. There's a 100% chance of snow tomorrow, so bring your kids. See you from 5:30-8:00. Lesson, music, crafts, a snow storm, indoor sock skating, and more. The kids are collecting an offering each night that will be given to Jackson County's Sleep in Heavenly Peace's bed program to provide beds for kids in our county who need them. No kids sleep on the floor! Our goal is to provide at least one bed. If the boys collect the most money, Brittany has to go down the big slide at the pool. If the girls collect the most money, then Pastor Toby has to go down the big slide. Both Pastor Toby and Brittany are afraid of heights. Who will take the plunge at the VBS finale Wednesday night at the city pool?
