Have you ever felt like you're stuck? Like no matter how hard you try, you can't seem to become the person you want to be? Here's the good news: the Bible says you don't have to stay that way.
In Romans, Paul lays out humanity's problem clearly — every one of us has sinned, and the consequence of that sin is death and separation from God. We can't earn our way out of it. No amount of good works, religious effort, or self-improvement can atone for it. We need a mediator, someone who can stand between us and a holy God.
That's exactly what Jesus did. He lived the perfect life we couldn't live, and He died the death we deserved, taking the full weight of God's wrath in our place. And He rose again, defeating sin and death once and for all. Revelation 5 pictures the scene: all of heaven falling before Him, crying out, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain," because with His blood He purchased people for God from every tribe, language, and nation.
This is why Paul begins Romans 12 the way he does: "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy…" Everything changes because of what Jesus has already done for you. When you put your faith in Him — trusting His death and resurrection instead of your own effort — you're not just forgiven. You're transformed. A new life begins, one where you're no longer a slave to sin but set free to worship and serve the God who saved you.
If you've never taken that step, today can be the day. Turn from your sin, trust in Jesus Christ, and He will make you new.
