I Thought I would share a Poem Debbie wrote a few years ago.
Plea for the Little Ones
Who will speak for the unborn whose lives have only begun?
From blankets and booties to schoolwork and duties—
Each life is a song to be sung.
There are aching arms all across this land made cold by cruel death;
There are empty wombs, there are tear-stained faces
That long to feel a baby’s breath.
Who will speak for the unborn, these gifts of life and love?
They are children, not a choice, in need of a voice—
Will you speak for the unborn today?
Who will weep for the children who never saw Mother’s face?
Unwanted, unloved, just a problem “removed”—
Sadly unrecognized as God’s grace.
Now there’ll be no first words, no birthday cakes,
No frolicking out in the snow,
No warm, trusting hand reaching out in love,
With small cherub face all aglow.
Our Saviour called for the children; He blessed them as He held them tight.
We who reverence His Name should still do the same—
Who will weep for the children today?
Who will stand for our future? Who knows how many great ones we’ve lost?
The teachers and doctors, the preachers and lawyers,
We’re closing our eyes to the cost!
One day we may learn these were our brightest and best,
If only they’d had a chance
To live, to learn, to work, to love,
To overcome great circumstance.
Who will stand for our future? This is not the time to turn away!
Because these small ones have no voice they have no “freedom of choice”!
Who will stand for our future today?
Will you speak for the unborn?
Will you weep for the children?
Will you stand for our future today?
