🪨 One stone. One sling. One giant. One God who gives the victory.

In Part 4 of the Shepherd King David Series, Pastor Dan shares “Giant Killer” from 1 Samuel 17. David did not focus on the size of Goliath — he focused on the greatness of God.

Whatever giant you are facing, stop listening to the voice of fear and remember: the battle belongs to the Lord. 🙌

Mental Health Monday 6/1: Be Still.

If you read Psalm 46, there are a plethora of powerful images that are helpful in times of distress. Refuge, strength, a river from God. All of these speak powerfully to the soul.

Verse 10 commands, “Be still and know that I am God.” When we understand what is being said here, we recognize that it is good not just for the spirit, but also the mind, body, and emotions.

In this week’s Mental Health Monday, Pastor Dan Harrison continues exploring the Psalms and reflects on one of the most well-known passages in Scripture: Psa...

Mental Health Monday 5/25: When Waters Rise

Turning again to the Psalms, we take note of some of the images David uses: Flood. Rising waters. Sinking in the mire.

Images that people often use to describe a panic attack.

David certainly faced regular panic-inducing circumstances. And Psalm 69, among others, shows us a brilliant picture of what can be done when we face this type of pressure:

-Praise God out loud with singing.
-Let thanksgiving occupy our thoughts.
-Get an image in the mind of a fulfilled promise.

These spiritual habits also preserve us in times when we get overwhelmed.

Mental Health Monday 5/18
Overriding Fight/Flight

When we get overwhelmed, our nervous system kicks in and initiates a self-protective pattern. This “fight-or flight” response can cause irrational decision making and relational stress.

David was frequently in situations that would have activated this response. In the Psalms, we get a beautiful glimpse of how he coped. Join me in reading through Psalm 54, and seeing how his response can help us in times of distress.

God sees what others overlook.

In this Mother’s Day message, “Loving the Sheep,” Pastor Dan reminds us through the life of David, Psalm 23, and the story of Ruth and Naomi that hidden faithfulness is never wasted.

Before David became king, he was faithful in the field. Before he faced Goliath, he learned to love and protect the sheep. And in every unseen season, God was preparing him for what was ahead.

Whether you are serving behind the scenes, caring for your family, walking through grief, or simply trying to be faithful where God has placed you, this message is for you.

Mental Health Monday 5/11: What’s Inside

When put under pressure, that which is on the inside comes out. Jesus recognized this when He stated, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34).

Instead of “You made me upset,” let’s practice owning our own responses. When we are triggered, the most likely scenario is that there is already stuff on the inside that is simply being stirred up in the moment. This is the stuff we must address so we don’t keep getting upset at those we love.

In this week’s Mental Health Monday, Pastor Dan Harrison asks a simple but important question: What’s on the inside?Using a moment with his children as an il...
