🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day from Ravenna Assembly! 🛠️

Today, we pause to recognize and appreciate the hard work, dedication, and service of people in every walk of life. Whether your work happens in an office, a factory, a classroom, a hospital, a jobsite, at home, or in ministry—the work of our hands can be an act of worship when we do it for the Lord. 🙌

As we enjoy this Labor Day, may we also remember that God is present in the everyday work He has placed before us.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
Colossians 3:23

From all of us at Ravenna Assembly of God, we pray you have a safe, restful, and blessed Labor Day! ❤️🤍💙

🎉 We have TWO special Sundays coming up this September at Ravenna Assembly of God

📅 Sunday September 13
🎤 Rusty and Hannah Nottingham

We are excited to welcome Rusty and Hannah from CitiReach. ❤️ Their ministry has a heart for reaching the people of Akron and sharing the hope of Jesus throughout the city. Rusty is also no stranger to Ravenna AG, having spent many of his teenage years right here in our church.

📅 Sunday September 20
🌎 Chuck and Wilma Lormis

The following Sunday, we are blessed to welcome Chuck and Wilma Lormis, Missions Cultivators with Assemblies of God US Missions. 🙌 Their ministry focuses on helping local churches develop and grow a heart for missions and reaching people with the Gospel.

⛪ Make plans to be with us BOTH Sundays at 10 AM. We are excited to hear what God is doing through these couples and to be challenged and encouraged by what they share.

🔥 What if your greatest obstacle isn’t fear… but hesitation?

God has already placed things on many of our hearts:
🙏 Pray for that person.
❤️ Encourage that friend.
📖 Share your faith.
🤝 Take that next step.

The question isn’t always, “God, what do You want me to do?”

Sometimes the question is…

“Will I simply obey?”

When God says go… go.

Take one step of obedience this week and watch what God can do.

📖 Romans 12:11

🚗 You can hold the steering wheel all day… but if your car is out of alignment, the real problem is underneath.

That’s exactly how many of us handle our spiritual lives.

We fight the symptoms…
😠 Anger.
😔 Insecurity.
🍷 Addiction.
💬 Gossip.

But God wants to heal the root—not just manage the behavior.

Maybe today isn’t about trying harder.

Maybe it’s about finally letting the Master Mechanic look under the hood. ❤️

🔥 When God says go… do you move, or do you hesitate?

In “Results of Transformation,” Part 4 of Pastor Dan Harrison’s State of the Church series, we continue through Romans 12 and look at what a transformed life actually looks like.

📖 “Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.” — Romans 12:9

Sometimes we keep fighting the same struggle by simply trying harder—like holding the steering wheel tighter on a car that is out of alignment. But God wants to do more than manage the symptoms. He wants to heal what is underneath and bring our lives back into alignment with Him.

And when the Holy Spirit speaks?

👉 When He says go—go.
👉 When He says pray—pray.
👉 When He says serve—serve.

🙏 This week’s challenge: Ask God where you have been hesitating or where something in your life has drifted out of alignment. Then take one real step of obedience.

Don’t just serve God occasionally. Let being a servant of Christ become part of who you are.

What if the word “hypocrite” meant something very different than you think?

In this powerful moment from “Results of Transformation” (Part 3 of the State of the Church series), Pastor Dan Harrison explains how the Greek word hypocrite originally described an actor wearing a mask—pretending to be someone they were not.

Paul takes that imagery in Romans 12:9 and challenges every believer:

📖 “Let love be genuine.”

God isn’t looking for perfect performances or polished appearances. He’s calling us to a faith that’s authentic—one that loves the same way in private as it does in public.

Are you wearing a mask, or are you allowing God’s transforming love to shape who you truly are?

Watch the full message to discover what genuine, Christlike love really looks like.

🔥 We don’t need a better billboard for Jesus if our transformed lives become the billboard.

In “Results of Transformation,” Part 3 of Pastor Dan Harrison’s State of the Church series, we look at Romans 12:9 and one simple but challenging command:

📖 “Let love be genuine.”

God isn’t calling us to put on a Sunday mask. He’s calling us to a love that is real—patient, kind, sacrificial, unconditional, and willing to love even the people who are hardest for us to love.

The question isn’t only, “Do I say that I love Jesus?”

It’s “Can people see His love transforming the way I live?”

🙏 This week’s challenge: Think of someone who is difficult for you to love and ask God, “How can I unexpectedly show Your love to this person?” Then act on what He puts in your heart.

Let God’s Word be the mirror. Let the Holy Spirit do the refining. And let your life show people what Jesus looks like. ❤️
