Friends,
We will have worship tomorrow, but I want to encourage extreme caution if you plan to come.

There is still ice around the property, and with the very cold temperatures, any areas that have thawed will refreeze overnight. Please take your time, watch your footing, and don’t take unnecessary risks. Your safety is important to us.

If the conditions don’t feel safe for you, I encourage you to worship with us online through Charleston’s page. You are part of this community whether you are with us in person or online.

Friends,
Thank you again for the prayers, messages, and generosity that have surrounded Coles Chapel these past days. Your care has been a powerful reminder that the church is not a building, but a people held together by love.

Right now, we are still in the very early stages of discerning what the future holds for Coles Chapel. Before we can begin planning specific needs or physical projects, we are waiting for the insurance process to be completed and for clarity on our next steps to emerge. As a result, we are not able to accept physical item donations at this time.

We are, however, beginning to accept monetary gifts to support Coles Chapel during this season of transition. These gifts are not for a building project yet. They are to help us continue ministry, care for people, and rebuild our future, even while that future is still taking shape.

We are committed to stewarding every gift with integrity, and we will provide updates as the insurance and rebuilding process unfolds. When the vision becomes clearer, we will share a more detailed picture of what God is calling Coles Chapel to become, and we will offer a broader invitation to give toward rebuilding.

This Sunday, the Coles Chapel church family will gather for worship at Charleston First United Methodist Church at 8:15 AM.

In the midst of a hard and unexpected week, we are grateful to have a place to come together, pray, and remind one another that we are not alone. While the building is gone, the church is still alive—and worshiping together matters.

All are welcome. If you are able, we invite you to come and support the people of Coles Chapel with your presence, your prayers, and your love. Simply showing up means more than you may realize.
