In a world that is rapidily moving forward in progress is also moving away from God. How then do we justify our actions? How do we make the kind of judgements that not only affect ourselves but the lives of others? Do we just make is up as we go basing our feelings & actions on, well you know, on what we think is right or wrong!? By who's authority then do we get by? Is everybody right and should we accept what everybody says and does? Is it possible for some folks, including myself, to be wrong and having no authority should not be listened to and or followed!? Point 1 of 7 to follow...

What Shall We Accept As Authority?

1- Who has authority over us?
God is above all (Eph. 4:6)
All power is given to Jesus (Matt. 28:18)
This included all flesh (Jn. 17:1,2) & angels (I Pet. 3:21,22)
Look at (I Cor. 15:27; 11:3)
Jesus received power when He was raised to God’s right hand! (Eph. 1:20-23; 4:8)

THE GOSPEL @ PENTECOST
Reading: Jn. 14:23-26; 16:5-15
Text: Acts 2

It was then that Peter rose and said (listen to these words (Acts 2:22ff).

1. Prophecy – events of:
A. The events that took place at P. were events
of prophecy.
1. (vs. 17) Key phrase = in the last days
2. Jer. 31:31-34 = New Cov. Written in heart
3. Isa. 2:2-4
a. Lord’s house
b. the word to go forth from Jerusalem
4. Dan 2:44 = Kingdom never to be destroyed
5. Isa. 6:6,7 = Seed of David to reign
forever

B. Joel 2:28 = the specific outpouring of the
Holy Spirit.

No longer would just the Israelites have God’s saving grace. It shall be that whosoever calls upon His name shall be saved!

The events of prophecy have been fulfilled and now must be affirmed!

Point Two to follow = Prophecy Affirmed

An early moment with The Country Preacher:

It's funny, so often when a person/s wants to make a point they tell a joke because they don't have the courage to do it seriously.

Politically speaking: Farmers are smarter than our politicians. They know they cannot be on two sides of a fence at once without getting hurt!

Have a great day all!

Have been very busy! However, I hope you have had time to review the statement that Jesus made "upon this rock I will build My church". Even though Peter is NOT the foundational rock from which Jesus built His church Peter was a rock!

Intro to The Gospel At Pentecost = The Book of Acts
THE GOSPEL @ PENTECOST
Reading: Jn. 14:23-26; 16:5-15
Text: Acts 2

In view of passages read\w brief background of Pentecost = which itself means 50th and came to designate the 50th day after Passover. In the O.T. the feast referred to as The Feast of Weeks (Ex. 34:22). It was on this day that the church was born!

The feast of weeks was celebrated with much joy, the cessation of hard work, and the ritual presentation of a ‘cereal offering of new grain’ in the form of two loaves of leaned, salted bread along with freewill offerings (Lev. 23:16ff; Num. 28:26). It was also inevitably an occasion for covenant renewal. Year by year as the Israelites participated in this festival they gave thanks to Yahweh for showing His faithfulness by providing another harvest to sustain them through the coming year, and they thereby reaffirmed their covenant bond to Him.

It was at this actual event that the Holy Spirit was poured forth as historical factual evidence. It’s not some theological thought or construction of Luke, he being the writer of Acts as well as the book of Luke.

It was at Pentecost that Devine Visitation took place!
It had been prophesied about!
All the components were there for the gospel to now be proclaimed as a saving message!
The day of Pentecost in (Acts 2) marks a time where God shifts His redemptive plan or purpose from a particular people (the descendants of Abraham via Isaac and Jacob) to all peoples!
Prophecy was affirmed, confirmed and Prophetic Victory was realized!

Get ready for one of the most exciting and challenging studies from the Book of Acts. This is a passage from which many religious organizations claim their beliefs and practices to be acceptable.

Check out Peter's message and get ready!

A country preacher's moment - Telling someone they are entirely wrong is tuff - however, it's not so bad unless it would be to one who always thinks their opinions are completely right.

Have a great day!

Good morning all. In this study we will be looking at three major points concerning the prophecy of the Church that Jesus established by way of the Holy Spirit lead Apostle Peter.

And by the way (a little side study) about Peter = PETER = petros = a pebble or a stone in Matthew 16:18

UPON THIS ROCK - petra. This means a large foundation stone a huge bolder.

Mt 7:24 The wise man built his house on a "petra,”not a "petros.”

The “rock” is the confession of faith Peter made, and not Peter himself. On what authority is Jesus going to build His church? The fact that He is the Christ, the son of the living God. That makes Him qualified to build a church. That is why no one else has the right to build a church. The confession is underscoring Jesus' authority. Since
He is the Christ and Son, He has the right. This is the significance of what was said, not that the church would be built on Peter.
I WILL BUILD = it is going to be built by Jesus, not anyone else.
MY CHURCH = "ekklesia" = "called out.” It takes on the meaning of a group, a gathering, or an assembly. Jesus uses a common word for a gathering of people. (Cf.
Acts 19:41 where the group - or the gathering - was dismissed). The Hebrew word is kahal, this is ekklesia; nothing more than a group of people. Jesus says, "I will build MY gathering or group." Faith in Jesus makes us a group, otherwise we would be
scattered. 1 Cor 3:11 - no other foundation but Christ. Jesus will have His own assembly, and He will be the bonding factor.

Jesus did not build His house/church upon Peter and therefore Peter is just Peter and not the first pope or any such thing!

It may not seem that important. However, to see and understand the simplicity of the Gospel at Pentecost one must look at the message not the man!

In Acts Chapter 2 the Gospel event which was prophesied takes place! The prophesy of the Gospel event is affirmed! The prophesy of the Gospel's Victory is fulfilled!

Hope the above information will help you prepare for our study on The Great Event - The Gospel @ Pentecost!

The Great Wedding
Reading & Text: Matt. 22:1-14

The most important invitation that anyone will ever get is one that the Lord offers! It’s not an invitation to be looked upon lightly! It’s not an invitation that when turned down, such as when we turn down a friends offer and we offend or possibly lose that friend, but an invitation that that when turned down all is lost. The Lord’s invitation is one that everyone should be respectful of and accept! That’s what’s portrayed in our reading!

3. (Verses 11-13) It’s a meal to be respected (yet some show no respect)
A. One was found not properly dressed!
* Certain clothing was required to be lawful and respectful
B. The man had no excuse for not dressing properly
(he knew what was expected)
* Often time’s garments were provided by the Master of
the occasion
C. All who have received the Lord’s invitation must show
the proper respect!
1. All have every opportunity to be clad\clothed in Christ
2. Some have shown and still show disrespect by
continuing in sin (Rom. 6:1)
3. Some have shown and still show disrespect by being
apathetic (Jn. 15:1,2; Heb. 2:3)
D. The disrespectful guest was cast into outer darkness
(Matt. 13:41,42).

Conclusion: Many are called but few are chosen. Some are called to the kingdom of God but refuse to come because of many seemingly more important things or persons in their lives. Some are bidden and try to come without showing proper respect for the invitation. Only those who see the need and gladly come and show respect to the Master may remain.

2. (Verses 8-10) It’s a meal to be attended (so others were invited)

A. Others came because they were invited
1. Those conscience of their need rejoiced and went (Eph. 2:12; Rom. 3:23)
2. Those conscience of the Master’s preparation will be honored (Jn. 3:16)
B. A great number of guests arrived!

Point three and conclusion to follow.

Now just a moment or two with the Country Preacher -

Think about winning an arguement by just keeping quiet and letting the other person argue with their own conscience.

Why has this happened to me?! What did I do to deserve this?! These questions are often asked when tragedy hits. One seldom hears a person wonder why something good has happened to them.

Have a great day and be safe!

1. (Verses 1-7) – It’s a meal to be honored (yet some refused)
A. The Master had made great preparation for the feast (1,2)
- Consider
1. The world was prepared by God’s careful revelation
(Rom. 3:20; Gal. 4:4).
2. The feast was laid by the life of and death of His Son
(Eph. 1:3; Rom. 5:8)
B. The Master sent His servants twice to bid the people
showing His concern! (3,4)
– Consider
1. Christ and the apostles have spoken to the world
(Acts 1:8)
2. We today continue to preach the Word of God
(II Tim. 4:2)
3. This shows His great concern for His guests = still!
C. The guests had more important things to do (5)
1. Pursuit of material gain seemed more important!
*Compare with (Matt. 6:33)
2. Other reasons for refusing the invitation (Lk. 9:59-62)
* Personal ties (Matt. 10:37)
* True love demands that one leads others to
heaven.
3. Made light of the invitation and treated them
shamefully (6) & (vs.7)
