Hello Parents, Students, and Leaders,
-Because of the likely chance of rain - which would cause us to shiver in shelters at the park - we will have a youth group fellowship night at Culver's on Mt. Rushmore Road.
-Come and go as you want from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
I have a short devo on Philippians 4:4-8, that table groups can do together!
-I look forward to mingling with as many students as I can before traveling to Taiwan for 4 weeks beginning this Friday!
-As always - be respectful of Culver's, their employees, and other guests. Don't be too loud - clean up after yourselves, etc.
-Here is a link to the remainder of our youth group events this summer which other YG leaders will run. I will return July 24th!

-You would purchase everything needed for a meal, prepare it, and then submit your receipts to Pastor Terry and you will be reimbursed.
-A sign-up genius has been created for all the meals needed for this trip. You could team up with another family to make it easier to prepare a meal. Right now we have about 35 riders and helpers on the trip!
Thank you so much and please check out the following sign-up genius for more info!

Hello Parents, Students, and Leaders!

Lot's of information for you!

First of all, tonight is the LAST youth group of the school year!

*Those who graduated from AWANA (current 5th grade students moving in to youth group next year) are invited to come to Parkview tonight at 5:30 pm. From 5:30 to 6:15 pastor Terry and some other youth leaders will meet you!

*Then, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm we will have regular youth group (current 5th/new 6th grade students are invited to stay for that - they are in Youth Group now!). Here are some of the things we will do tonight:

--If the field isn't too muddy, we will play an outdoor game.
--We will learn the winner of the "color wars."
--We will have a short devo, hear from the seniors, pray for them, and then have cake and ice cream!
--Youth group will end around 8 pm, but students are welcome to stay a little longer to hang out!

*We have several events and trips planned for the summer. We will have paper copies to hand out tonight, but here is the digital summer event schedule: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VeS6e_Zm3SjNY1x0E3RhSqplnUimiNUK/view?usp=sharing

*2 of the bigger events are the High School tubing trip, and the Middle School Bike Trip: https://parkviewefc.churchcenter.com/registrations
That's all for now - see you tonight!

Pastor Terry

OVRFLO Student Ministries Exists that students might come2know and grow into Christ, daring2SHARE Him with others as they belong to and build His church!
-Both OVRFLO youth group and AWANA begin next Wednesday, 9/11/24, at 6:30 pm!
--Youth group runs from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, but we do allow 6th - 12th grade students to stay a little long (8:30-8:45) if they want more time to visit, play 9 square or gaga ball, or, sometimes to have more time in their small groups. AWANA ends promptly at 8:00 pm - so if you have 6th - 12th students who need to leave with you and your younger kids - that is not a problem! Just tell you MS/HS kids what time they need to meet you out front in the foyer!
---If you are new to youth group this year, please find me, Pastor Terry, next Wednesday, 9/11, and I'll help you meet some other youth leaders, other students your age, and also get you plugged into the right small group.
---Our general schedule for each Wed. night is as follows:
*6:30 - 7:00: Announcements & icebreaker activity/game.
*7:00 - 7:30: Lesson (We will be looking at 1 Corinthians this year along with gospel-advancing ideas from Dare2Share's Lead the Cause Material, like how to have a gospel conversation, how to articulate the gospel, how to pray for the lost...and actually doing those things!).
*7:30 - 8 - 8:15: Small group time. This is where groups of students who are the same gender and close to the same grade will talk about the lesson, encourage one another, and spend time in prayer.
*8:15 - 8:45 (Optional!): If 6th - 12th students want to stay a little longer for fellowship, that is fine. But parents - whenever you need to take your kids home is not a problem! Just communicate with them what time they need to leave!
Sunday School!
-Sunday school begins Sunday, Sept. 15th, and will be from 9 am to 9:50 am at the fireplace in they foyer.
-We will either be studying the gospel of John or the book of Judges (the men's and women's small groups are also studying that book), along with some of the 21 challenges Greg Stier provides in his new book, Radical Like Jesus. If you are looking for a book with lots of stories and encouragement to put your faith into action - then I do recommend this book! https://gregstier.org/radical-like-jesus/
--Disclaimer: Pastor Terry could change his mind at any moment with what he wants to teach on a Sunday morning! 🙂 But this is the direction he is going at the moment! Bring your Bibles - be ready to read, talk out loud with words, and take put God's Word into action!
Fall Advance 2024!
-Each fall we invite 7th - 12th grade students to Fall Advance at Camp Judson where we what the gospel to advance in us and through us to the world. Yes, it's true, we make 6th grade students wait an extra year! We also invite 3 other E-Free churches to join us: Rimrock, Southern Hills (Hot Springs), and Living Rock (Gillette).
--The dates this year are Oct. 18th - 20th. The event will begin on Friday night, around 6 pm, and end around 2 pm on Sunday afternoon. More details coming soon - but for now, put those dates on your calendar!
--Our speaker is Wayne, a Bible translator, along with his wife, Amy. They were with us 2 years ago and take us deep into Scripture, and also share their stories about Bible translation among a nomadic group of shepherds in a closed country. More info to come on their topic soon!
Parents as Primary Disciplers.
-I strongly believe that parents are the primary disciplers of their kids, therefore I want to encourage and equip you as parents to accomplish that God-given role. Hopefully our youth ministry is a great supplement to what you are already doing, and a healthy place for your kids to meet other believing peers.
--From time to time I will share resources that I believe can be helpful for you as parents to disciple your kids, and I think the Holy Sexuality Project by Christopher Yuan is one of them. It is designed for parents or grandparents to disciple your teens on biblical sexuality. I'll let you check it out for yourself. https://holysexuality.com/?utm_id=mbifounders2024&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Eloqua&utm_campaign=FW%202024_Holy%20Sexuality.rtf
Alright - that's all I can think of for now! Feel free to forward this on to any Parents and Students who need it! I'm looking forward to everything kicking off again!
In Christ,

Pastor Terry
