John 16:33
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
As I watch the snow fall, I think about how it may somehow calm a bit all the craziness that has been going on in our country. As tough as should it be for all of us and as painful as it should be to see the divide and hatred growing in our country, we need to still trust that He who overcame, the God who gave it all for us is still the God of this world and our country. God has our back, and we need to continue to pray for each other and do our best to be Christ to all!
Acts 10:34-35 says,
34 Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism 35 but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right. God makes no distinction between people, neither should we.
Reflect today on this, remembering how much grace love and forgiveness God has shown you. How you and I would not be here today if it were not for God's loving mercy. We are all, God's children, and as such, we all are part of the same family.
Finally, remember, this is not our home. We are here for just a moment, and as Matthew 6:19-21 says, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
This world, its leaders, and systems shall pass. They will rise and fall. Every 2 to 4 years, this country shifts from one extreme to the other. Don't become engulfed in the enemies trap. Stay focused on what truly matters. Like Paul says in Philippians 3:14, "press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus."
Let's pray:
Lord and God of all nations, be with us during these difficult times. Help us to speak what we need to in order to advance your Kingdom here on earth. As we pray for our country and those in power, help us not lose focus on You who are and will always be the only true King, Lord, and Savior of this world. Thank you for your loving grace, mercy, and forgiveness. Help us truly be like Jesus In word and in actions. We pray this believing in the mighty name of Jesus, your Son and our Savior. Amen!
Have a blessed day, and stay safe!
