As of now we are playing it by ear, keeping a close eye on the forecast to determine whether or not the 10:30 service will be outside. But no matter what, there will be both a 9:00 and a 10:30 service this week! 9:00 will lean a bit more traditional, 10:30 more modern.

Hopefully we can worship outside, because this week is a perfect theme for an outdoor service. We'll take a break from our Under Construction series to celebrate a brand new festival day in the church calendar – Creation in Christ! It celebrates the ongoing creation of the world in and through Christ, who holds all created things, and our part in caring for it. On second thought, creation is always under construction too, so maybe it’s not a break from our theme after all!

For the past couple weeks, we've seen a progression: we wrestle with God's truth, we wander - only to be found by Jesus. What then? We have said the questions and doubt can be good. But do they ever end? Do we ever settle into faith? Jesus' tense interaction with Peter in this Sunday's gospel leads us to explore this question as he challenges us toward a trust that will cost us everything.

Following 9:00 Worship, Romans Bible Study continues at 10:30. See you Sunday!

How's your foundation? Last week's sermon encouraged us to question and explore, insisting that doubt is a part of faith, not its opposite. This week we are reminded that in the midst of those wanderings, our foundation is secure in Christ - not because of anything we need to do to make it so, but because of the victory he has already won for us.

Also this Sunday: Romans Bible Study resumes! We'll gather at 10:30 in the Big Room to dive into the second half of Romans. Paul addresses some fascinating questions in the remaining chapters, including getting a bit more practical after the big ideas in chapters 1-8. Join us whether or not you did for the first half!

This week: we return to our “Under Construction” theme. In Isaiah we hear that God’s house shall be a house of prayer for all people, including those who have been made to feel that they don’t have a place in God’s family. The woman who approaches Jesus is exactly one of those outsiders, and she is unflinching in her request that Jesus heal her daughter. He relents. Perhaps this is exactly what Jesus wants - a faith tenacious enough to insist on what we need, and not fragile enough to break when we don’t get it. The most surprising thing of all? The driving force in building such faith…is questions.
