Behind every meal served, grocery box delivered and family supported is a community that cares.

Local food assistance programs are only possible because of the generosity of donors, volunteers and supporters who help ensure resources are available when they are needed most.

Your support helps provide hope and practical assistance to families facing difficult circumstances. Thank you for making this work possible.

Tomorrow is National Donut Day, a tradition that began with The Salvation Army's "Donut Lassies" during World War I. These courageous women served fresh donuts, supplies and encouragement to soldiers on the front lines, bringing comfort during some of their most difficult days.

More than a century later, their legacy continues to inspire us. National Donut Day is about more than a sweet treat. It's a reminder that simple acts of kindness can make a lasting impact.

As we celebrate tomorrow, we honor the Donut Lassies and all those who continue to serve others with compassion, hope and joy.

For many children, summer break means freedom, fun and time away from the classroom. But for families facing food insecurity, it can also mean the loss of dependable school meals.

Throughout the summer, The Salvation Army helps bridge that gap by providing meals, groceries and food assistance to families in need. Through food pantries, mobile food distributions and other community programs, we work to ensure children continue to have access to nutritious meals when school is out.

Because every child deserves a summer filled with possibility and not uncertainty about where their next meal will come from.

From celebrating mothers and uplifting women to serving communities and creating pathways to hope, May was filled with moments that reminded us what it means to love and serve others well.

Across the Western Territory, corps and divisions came together to support local families, honor community partners, empower students and build meaningful connections. From Chico thanking first responders during National Salvation Army Week to Hawaii partnering with Rotary Clubs to fight food insecurity to Phoenix students collecting water for neighbors in need, every act of kindness made an impact.

We also celebrated fellowship and community through special gatherings like Mother’s Day teas in Seattle, Escondido and Coos Bay while Salt Lake City’s Red Shield Gala brought supporters together to strengthen the mission happening across the city.

In San Francisco, Culinary Training Academy students showcased their talents in front of community leaders and future employers, highlighting the life changing power of workforce development and second chances.

Thank you to every volunteer, supporter, partner, officer, employee and community member who helped make May so meaningful.
