BLUE CHRISTMAS
Just recently I heard of a special prayer service many churches participate in, appropriately called “Blue Christmas”. It is held for those who are in a season of lament. Whether it is the death of a loved one, loss of a friendship or relationship, or any other heartache one may be experiencing that has robbed even a bit of the joy this season holds. I got to thinking about my own situation and the hope I hold onto for healing and restoration but also the sadness and empty space that is undeniable and sometimes unshakable. What I know to be true is that Christmas is all about expectancy; we await our coming again Jesus in faithful excitement and that is exactly what I am intentional to do every time that blueness creeps in.

Respond: Do you have blueness weaved into the red, green, and sparkle of Christmas? I want to urge you to join me in making a new habit today. When the sadness creeps in and invites you to slip into the pit of self pity and sorrow, stop and pray aloud. Your Abba Father is near and His arms are open wide.

Pray: Almighty God, I entrust all who are dear to me to your never-failing care and love, for this life and the life to come, knowing that you are doing for them better things than I can desire or pray for. As I wait, help me to wait with hopeful expectation and to rest in the comfort of your arms. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

I highly recommend you stream the movie Nefarious. It is a faith-based movie released to reach the secular world. It is about an atheist, will convict lukewarm Christians, and hopefully reach non-believers who have even the slightest Bible knowledge. Watch it with a non-believing friend if possible. It will open up great discussions. 🙏🏼💜
