Happy New Year everyone! In addition to Brother Farlee's institute class "Prophetic Priorities", I will be starting a new temple prep institute class called "Understanding Temple Ordinances" every Thursday night at Temple Hill. This class will start this Thursday, January 11, 2024 in the Relief Society Room (far west side of the building). Those interested just come to class and we'll register you there. Did you know that in 1956 missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints helped the fledgling Australian basketball team compete in their first Olympic Games?

The missionary basketball team, dubbed the 'Mormon Yankees' became stars. In Australia, they played several teams preparing for the Olympic Games including the Australians, Russians, Chinese (Taiwanese), Chilean, French, and American Olympic teams.

Due to the presence of the Mormon Yankees, several positive articles were published in Australia that dispelled myths about the church. During the peak of the Mormon Yankees' popularity, 1955-1960, the LDS Church in Australia tripled in size.

Brother Donald Hull, a member or the “Mormon Yankees”, will be speaking in a fireside on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at 7:00 at the LDS Church, 89 Scholar Way, Folsom, CA 95630. Come hear about his true experiences and how it compares to the “Spirit of the Game”.

Come join us for FHE on October 14 to watch Spirit of the Game. A movie based on a true story about Missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in Australia in 1956. The “Mormon Yankees” end up playing basketball with the Olympic teams. We will be meeting at the Edmondson‘s home at 7 o’clock.
This is in preparation for our visit from Elder Don Hull, one of the missionaries in this movie, who will be coming to speak to us Thursday Oct 17 at 7 o’clock at Scholar Way. This will be our institute class for this week. All are welcome!
