This Labor Day weekend, I want to ask you a question:
Have you ever wondered if what you’re doing really matters?

Maybe you’ve been praying, serving, giving, encouraging, or simply trying to stay faithful - but you haven’t seen the results you hoped for.
God’s Word gives us this reminder:

“…your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” - 1 Corinthians 15:58

Join us tomorrow at Freedom Baptist Church as we look at what God’s Word teaches us about being faithful, serving for the right reason, and trusting God with the results.

Sunday School - 10:00 AM GA time Worship - 11:00 AM GA time

Come worship with us. There’s a place for you!

Homecoming at FBC September 13th. Bring your favorite side dish. The meats will be provided. We also have a special couple that we want to love on. Bring your gift cards. This is for the daughter of Bro Brian & Sis Amy Merrill, Briley Merrill Jackson. The Lord is using this precious couple at our sister church Macedonia Baptist.

Good morning! Hope everyone’s week has been good.

For no one can lay any foundation other than what has been laid down. That foundation is Jesus Christ.

Paul is clear. There is only one foundation that will hold. Everything else will eventually crack. That foundation has already been laid and it is Jesus Christ Himself.

I have watched people try to build on other things. Talent. Hard work. Good intentions. Church activity. Even solid teaching. Those things matter but they cannot carry the weight of a life or a ministry by themselves. Only Jesus can.

Today I am checking my own foundation again. Is Christ the real base of what I am building or am I adding layers that look good but rest on something weaker? The foundation is already secure. My part is to keep building on Him and nothing else.

Pray with me,

Lord Jesus You are the only foundation that lasts. Keep us from trying to lay another one. Help us build carefully on You alone. Make our lives and our work rest fully on who You are. In Your name Amen.

This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth. You are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do. -Joshua 1:8

God gave Joshua a clear path for the new season ahead. Keep the Word close. Speak it. Think about it day and night. Then live it out carefully. Success would not come from strategy alone. It would flow from a life shaped by God’s instruction.

I need this reminder. It is easy to rush into the day with plans and lists while the Word stays quiet in the background. But real strength and clear direction come when Scripture stays on my mind and in my mouth. Meditation is not complicated. It is simply giving God’s Word space to settle in and guide the next step.

Today let the book of instruction stay near. Speak it. Think on it. Obey it. That is the way of true prosperity and success in whatever the Lord places in your hands.

Pray with me,

Lord keep Your Word from departing from our mouths and our minds. Help us meditate on it day and night. Give us grace to carefully observe what is written. Lead us into the success that comes from walking in Your ways. In Jesus name Amen.

Good morning,

House of Israel can I not treat you as this potter treats his clay? This is the Lord’s declaration. Just like clay in the potter’s hand so are you in my hand house of Israel. -Jeremiah 18:6

God sent Jeremiah to watch a potter at work. The clay was flawed so the potter reshaped it into something else. Then the Lord spoke. You are the clay. I am the Potter. I have the right and the power to form you as I see fit.

That truth can feel uncomfortable. We like control. We want to decide the shape of our lives. Yet there is deep comfort here too. The Potter is wise and good. He does not waste the clay. Even when the vessel is marred He can remake it into something useful in His hands.

This Thursday I am choosing to stay soft in the Potter’s hands. Not stiff. Not resistant. Willing to be reshaped when He sees the need. He knows what He is making.

Pray with me,

Lord You are the Potter and we are the clay. Keep our hearts soft in Your hands. Shape us as You see fit. Help us trust Your skill and Your care even when the process feels hard. Make us vessels that honor You. In Jesus name Amen.

Good morning,

You have left me. This is the Lord’s declaration. You have turned your back so I have stretched out my hand against you and destroyed you. I am tired of showing compassion. -Jeremiah 15:6

These are hard words. God speaks to a people who kept walking away. They turned their backs on Him again and again. His patience had been long but it was not endless. Judgment came because they refused to return.

I read this and feel the weight of it. God’s compassion is real and deep but it is not something we can take for granted forever. Persistent turning away eventually meets His firm hand. That truth sobers me.

Yet even in a verse of judgment I hear the implied invitation. The problem was that they left Him and kept going backward. The way forward has always been the same. Turn back. Face Him again. Seek His mercy while it may be found.

This Wednesday let us examine our own hearts. Are there places where we have quietly turned our backs? Come back to the Lord. His compassion is still offered to those who return.

Pray with me,

Lord we hear the seriousness of Your words. Keep us from turning our backs on You. Soften our hearts to return quickly when we drift. Thank You that Your compassion is still available to those who come home. Draw us near today. In Jesus name Amen.

Church, tomorrow night we’re diving into one of Jesus’ most striking and sometimes misunderstood statements:

Matthew 7:6: “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs…”

What does this mean for how we share truth, guard what’s holy, and live wisely in a world that doesn’t always value what God values?

No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. I will be with you just as I was with Moses. I will not leave you or abandon you.-Joshua 1:5

God spoke these words to Joshua at a turning point. Moses was gone. A new season of leadership and unknown battles lay ahead. Into that uncertainty God gave a steady promise. I will be with you. I will not leave you or abandon you.

I hold onto this on days when the path feels unfamiliar. The same God who walked with Moses walked with Joshua. And He walks with us. He does not hand us a task and step back. He stays.

Whatever Tuesday holds for you the Lord is not distant. He is present. He will not leave. He will not abandon. That is enough for any new beginning or any hard stretch.

Pray with me,

Lord thank You for the promise that You will not leave us or abandon us. Be with us today just as You were with Joshua. Give us courage because of Your nearness. We trust You. In Jesus name Amen.
