Ramsey PC

Ramsey PC First Presbyterian Ramsey is a vibrant inter-generational Christian community that seeks to live and love like Jesus.

At First Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) in Ramsey, we gather each Sunday morning as a Christian community to celebrate the love of God we experience in Jesus Christ, and we invite you to join us! At other times throughout the week we can be found meeting together in small groups for study and sharing, working side by side in service to our community, enjoying the gift of fellowship, caring for one another, and reaching out to provide healing and hope to people in need everywhere.

We began Holy Week with a beautiful service on Palm Sunday, March 29. The children had fun making decorations, hunting for Easter eggs and showed off their "resurrection gardens". Join us as we continue to the joyful celebration of Easter!

The Maundy Thursday service is at 7pm on April 2.

Our Easter celebration begins on Sunday, April 5, with a Sunrise Prayer Service at 8am at Union Cemetery located at 316 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey.

Our traditional Easter Service follows at 9:30am in our sanctuary; Fellowship Time at 11am.

We hope to see you!

FIRST FRIDAY UPDATE:

ON FRIDAY, MARCH 6, WE WERE DELIGHTED TO WELCOME OUR GUEST SPEAKER, JOEL FARKAS, TO SHARE HIS VAST KNOWLEDGE OF AMERICAN HISTORY WITH A PRESENTATION ENTITLED “THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE: AMERICA’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE”.

From the Magna Carta (1215), the Revolutionary War, The French Revolution (and Napoleon) to the War of 1812, we learned how these events shaped the United States of today. So much history shared clearly and with enthusiasm in such a short time was incredibly interesting and so timely to discuss with our current environment and the year of our country’s 250th birthday.

Joel shared amazing pictures depicting the people and events supporting this great story of our country and how it was shaped. To learn more about Joel and his lectures, visit revolutionarywarlectures.com.

As usual, we shared fellowship and a potluck lunch.

Baptism is a foundational Christian sacrament using water to symbolize purification, rebirth, and identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It signifies cleansing from sin, receipt of the Holy Spirit, and entry into the Church, usually performed by immersion, pouring, or sprinkling.
On Sunday, February 22, we were pleased to welcome the Cedola family and friends to witness the baptism of Kyle Deven Cedola.
Welcome Kyle to our church family!

Our congregation, through the Board of Deacons, has been donating to ONOMA since the summer and have made it an ongoing mission to help them with their ministry in Downtown Paterson. On Sunday, February 15, we were pleased to welcome the Laterra family who coordinate this wonderful mission and gracefully give their time (and garage space!) to provide hands-on comfort and care with food, clothing and other needed essentials. Each Saturday morning they arrive at a given location at the Paterson train station with a van load of men’s clothing, a van of women’s clothing and a van of other essentials. They provide meals for 100 people each week and do all this with compassion and friendship sharing the love of Christ. There is a constant need for donated items and the Deacons keep us updated in the weekly Intimations. The current need is for warm accessories such as gloves, scarves and hats; and new, unused socks are a constant need. They could also use tents if you should have one available. To learn more about ONOMA, what they do and how you can help, go online at www.onomacommunityoutreach.org, or check out their page.

WARMTH AND LOVE!

First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey is blessed to have a talented group called “Threads of Comfort”. These talented ladies give their time to handcraft hats, scarves, blankets and more for those in need within our community. They are knitted or crocheted with love and prayer in the hopes of providing comfort and joy for the recipients of all ages.

Recently, they delivered 32 scarves to Several Sources Shelter in Ramsey.

Thank you, ladies! They are beautiful and will surely bring joy to the recipients.
