Hi Gents,

The Fall 2017 Poway Stake Emergency Communications Exercise is upon us. It will be held this Saturday the 14th from 9-11am. During that time between 9 and 11, we are asked to call/text or in some way contact the in individual or family and let them know that we are conducting an emergency exercise.

Please take note of your individuals/Families on your HT list.

The exercise is to ensure that in the case of a real emergency, we have an efficient and effective way of reaching out and helping each other.

The circumstances of a real emergency are so rare that some of us feel that this is a waste of time. That is the case with most of us UNTIL the Emergency happens.

Thank you for your help,
Tom

There is going to be a Multi-Stake Softball Tournament after the 4th of July holiday. Are we interested in having a team? The games will be for the ages of 18 and above only. Please get back to me by the 28th as I have to let them know by the 30th how many teams you have. When you respond, please provide the ward(s) included and a contact for the coach of your team who I can correspond with.

Here are some of the rules for your information.
1. You start with a 1 and 1 count ( 1 strike and 1 ball ).
2. We use wooden softball bats.
3. We use yellow softballs that are 44 cor 375 comp ( we supply the balls ).
4. We have 2 bases at first base, one white and one orange. The base runner has to touch the orange base, not the white base.
5. There is a commitment line between third and home. If you cross over the line you have to continue on to home you can not go back to third if you cross over the line.
6. There is two home plates the runner has to touch the back plate to score. The catcher just has to stand on the front plate to get the out. The reason for the two plates so there is no collision at home plate.
7. The games are about one hour ten minutes or seven innings.
8. On your second strike or your second foul ball you have to hit the ball in fair territory for your third attempt or your out.
9. On a double play at second base the runner must slide or avoid. This will be a judgment call from the umpire.
10. Two Wards that are combined can have two non-members on the team. Three wards can not have any non-members.
These are just some of the rules we have for the tournament.

Please let me know on or before the 28th of June if you would like to participate in the tournament. So we can get your teams in the tournament.
