St. Mary’s Welcomes Songwriter Sanctuary to Ramona

Last Friday evening, St. Mary’s was delighted to open our doors to Songwriter Sanctuary San Diego for a very special night of original music and community.

The August 28 concert marked Songwriter Sanctuary’s first-ever road show, bringing its popular San Diego listening-room concert series to Ramona in collaboration with Listen Local Radio.

The evening featured original music performed “in the round” by Chloe Lou, Haywire, and Nate Donnis. Before the concert, Ramona’s own Cathryn Beeks and Laura Burdette welcomed guests with a special Pre-Show Pantry Jam, which also encouraged donations of food and clothing to help neighbors in our community.

We were especially touched to learn that, when organizers began looking for a home for their first road show, they wanted a progressive and affirming venue and found that home at St. Mary’s.

Events like this are a wonderful reminder that our church buildings are about much more than what happens on Sunday mornings. They can be places where neighbors gather, artists are supported, friendships begin, and our wider community knows that they are welcome.

Thank you to Songwriter Sanctuary, Listen Local Radio, the talented musicians, everyone from St. Mary’s who helped make the evening possible, and all who came through our doors.
