“Whoever walks with the wise will become wise, but a companion of fools will suffer harm.” Proverbs 13:20

Life Application:

I remember being little and going to a friend’s house or spending the day with a cousin, only to come home and need an “attitude adjustment.” 🥴😂

Looking back, I can see exactly what happened. I had picked up somebody else’s attitude, behavior, or bad habits without even realizing it.

And honestly…we don’t outgrow that just because we get older.

The people we spend time with influence us. Their attitudes, their words, what they complain about, what they think is funny, and even what they think is acceptable can slowly start rubbing off on us.

It’s not just people, either. What we watch, listen to, and scroll through can influence us just as much.

That’s why I think this verse is such a good reminder to pay attention to what we’re allowing into our lives. If I’m constantly surrounded by negativity, I shouldn’t be surprised when I start feeling negative too.

The opposite is true, too. Being around people who encourage me, pray for me, make me laugh, and point me back toward Jesus makes a difference.

And now that I’m the mom, I understand the “attitude adjustment” a whole lot better. 😂

Who we spend our time with matters. What we allow to influence us matters. Sometimes we all need to take a step back and ask, “Is this making me more like Jesus…or am I going to need an attitude adjustment?” 🥴🤍

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” Psalm 55:22

Life Application:

I love that this verse doesn’t say you won’t have burdens. It says what to do with them.

Give them to God.

And if I’m being honest, that’s something I have to remind myself to do more than once. I’ll pray about something and then five minutes later I’m thinking about it again, worrying about it again, and trying to figure out how I’m going to fix it.

It’s almost like I tell God, “Here, you can have this,” and then turn around and pick it right back up.

God doesn’t ask us to carry everything ourselves.

Maybe your burden today is something going on with your family. Maybe it’s something at work, a relationship, finances, a decision you don’t know how to make, or just something you’ve been carrying around in your head that you haven’t told anybody about.

Whatever it is, God already knows about it.

He doesn’t just tell us to throw our burdens at Him and walk away. He says He WILL sustain us. He’ll give us what we need to keep going.

I’ve learned that sometimes the situation doesn’t change right away, but something changes in me when I finally stop trying to carry it all myself.

Can we talk about getting kids to church for a minute?

We know it’s not always easy! Getting everybody dressed, finding the missing shoe, fixing hair, making sure someone has eaten something besides a snack, and actually getting out the door on time…whew.

Some Sundays, just making it to the parking lot feels like an accomplishment!

Then you walk in and see these sweet faces learning about Jesus, and you remember why it’s worth it. ❤️

If you’ve been thinking about coming, but getting everyone ready feels overwhelming, come anyway!

Come with the messy hair, mismatched socks, and the toddler who may or may not make it through the service.

We’ll be glad to see you!

Sunday School begins at 10:00 AM with classes for children of all ages, women, and men. Then we gather together for worship at 11:00 AM.

We’d love to have you and your family join us today! ❤️⛪️

“Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for His mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness!” Lamentations 3:22-23

Life Application:

I think these verses are easy to read and think, “Yep, God’s mercies are new every morning. How sweet.” And they are. But when you know what was actually happening when these words were written, they mean so much more.

Lamentations was written after Jerusalem had been destroyed by the Babylonians. The city was gone. The temple had been burned. People had been killed, families had been separated, and many were taken into exile. God’s people had lost so much.

The whole book is basically Jeremiah grieving over what had happened. He’s talking about suffering, loss, hunger, loneliness, and the consequences of their sin. This wasn’t a happy season of life.

And then, right in the middle of all of that, Jeremiah says, “His mercies never end. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness.”

He wasn’t saying that because everything was going great. It wasn’t. He was looking at complete destruction and still choosing to remember Who God is.

I think we can do the same thing in our own lives. Sometimes life doesn’t look anything like we thought it would. We lose people. Plans don’t work out. We get disappointed. We worry about our kids. We struggle with things nobody else knows about. Some seasons just hurt.

Even in those seasons, God’s mercy is still there.

I love that it says His mercies are new every morning. Not just when we’ve had a good day. Not just when we’ve gotten our act together. Every morning.

We get another day. Another chance. Another reminder that God hasn’t changed.

Whatever yesterday looked like, God’s mercy didn’t run out overnight. ♥️
