Today is the Memorial of the Martyrdom of St. John the Baptist (Aug 29). He was beheaded by Herod for testifying against the king’s illegal union with his sister-in-law. St. John the Baptist, pray for us, that God’s design for the sacred covenant of marriage may be restored and lived out. Amen.

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Blessed Virgin Mary, Pray for us.

Today is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We honor Mary, who, at the end of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory! In the dioceses of the United States, because this feast falls on a Saturday, the obligation to attend Mass is abrogated. Blessed Virgin Mary, pray for us!

Our deepest condolences go out to the Rivera family. Minnie & her family are long time members of our parish. Her faith was strong and she loved her Catholic faith.
Well done good and faithful servant.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon Minnnie. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Minerva Minnie Rivera, 76, passed away on August 8, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born on July 29, 1950, in North Judson, Indiana to Jose and Guadalupe Arrambides Calderon. Minnie married the love of her life, Albert Rivera on December 19, 1971, in Ralls, Texas
