Jesus came to serve, and His greatest act of service was giving His life to save us from our sin.

We don't serve others to earn God's favor. We serve because of the grace we've received through Christ, following His example of putting others before ourselves.

We never reach a point in our faith when we no longer need God's Word.

Whether we've followed Christ for years or are just beginning to know Him, Scripture continues to teach us, correct us, and point us to Jesus.

The more we grow, the more we recognize how much we need the truth of God's Word.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and we’re taking time to thank God for the pastors He has given our Bay Leaf family!

Their ministry goes far beyond Sunday mornings. From preaching God’s Word and discipling others to praying with families, offering encouragement, and walking alongside people through life’s joys and challenges, our pastors faithfully serve in ways both seen and unseen.

To our pastors, thank you for your love for the Lord, your commitment to His Word, and the many ways you care for and lead our church family. We are grateful for each of you and for the ways God is working through your lives and ministry!

Why does the character of a pastor matter so much? Because the leadership of the church affects the witness of the church. In 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and 5:17-25, Pastor Jared Richard walks through what Scripture says about the calling and qualifications of pastors, and the responsibility we share as a church to discern, honor, and hold our leaders accountable. Giftedness matters, but character matters more. And while pastors are called to lead faithfully, our hope has never rested in perfect leaders.
